Mark Borowiecki had 14 hits which is apparently an NHL record. He was also horrendously bad.

some of those goals on both sides were pretty bad but there were some good ones too. in the long term the penguins have to tighten up their D, and their penalty kill, but that was about as dramatic and intense as you could hope for from a meaningless game in december and im glad i spent my night watching it

They were fawning over him on the TSN broadcast. In addition to his uselessness in all things carrying the puck and maintaining defensive position he can't body up any forward at all either. Look at him on the Malkin penalty, he just slips right off him like an undone scarf.

Man, Crosby is on another level this year in terms of goal scoring. I was gonna continue to brag about Pasta, and him having 15 goals in 21 games, but Sid is at 17 in 20.

While Sam Gagner is killing it in Columbus, Washington's 2 "big" acquisitions (Brett Connolly and Lars Eller) each have 3 points. And Tom Wilson, who inexplicably was expected to become a top 9 player, has 1 whole point in 24 games.

I can't remember too many lucky ones either. They've been snipes and ridiculous deflections.

He's only 7 points back of Connor too :getin:.

Eller's been okay defensively but is generating nothing offensively. Which is really the story of the whole team. Somehow the entire defense only has 3 goals, one of which was an ENG.

24%. Pastrnak is only at 21, so obviously he's going to win when Crosby crashes that 3%.

I did the math don't worry, no need to verify.

I think it's a case of either of them not getting the majority of the starts, because this goalie tandem thing doesn't really work when the people in it really need to be playing the majority of the time to really get in a groove.

That said after watching the Wings game the other night I'm still loving amazed Fleury tries to play the goddamned puck when it's rimmed around because even after 10+ years he's loving godawful.

So while I love Fleury the person and think he's hilarious, I wouldn't mind trading him and getting a decent D prospect for him.

Eller 101. I like him a lot but he doesn't have offensive instincts. He's a third like guy who can chip in third line points.

Not only did they have the lead in the third period, they found a new gear and pulled away.

If he hadn't poo poo the bed so badly this year then Dallas maybe. Or Buffalo. Or Calgary if/when Johnson comes back to earth.

Despite how lovely he has been this year I do still think he's a starting goalie that could help some team. He's just a below average to maybe average at best one, but still think he's better than some of the starters out there. He's been absolutely horrendous this year but he is coming off two good seasons in a row and is historically a 915-918ish goalie which is not great but is decent enough that some team would want him.

I'm fully expecting Fleury to go to Arizona for some reason in exchange for Datsyuk, which Rutherford will fit under the Cap somehow because he's playing Be A GM on Easy and, upon hearing the news, Pavel (e- and his gay cadaver ankles) will be on the next flight back to the US so he can play for Team Top Six Forward.

gosh! i like both the islanders and the rangers!!! :^)

So tonight the Rangers may push the Isles' poo poo in. The Rangers will be loved and I will appreciate their good season so far. The Islanders will be hated because this year has been a constant source of disappointment for me, watching yet another year of John Tavares wasted by Jack Capuano's "coaching".

The Islanders may beat the Rangers. I will be upset with the Islanders winning in an already lost season, and giving a bit of slack to Capuano. But I will be happy for an Islanders win, for the players. The Rangers would disappoint me falling to the Islanders. Their offense should dominate.

I plan on watching with a tempered numbness from my chair.

E: Ideally, there is a high scoring game with the Rangers winning. Maybe Capuano loses it, goes ballistic in the post game and says something bad enough that he gets fired. That would be niiiiiice.

Who? Starting goalies almost never get traded, and when they do the return is not small.

Thinking back to in-season starter trades...

Miller returned a goalie, some players, and a first.

Luongo was cheaper but his situation was kind of hosed and they still got Markstrom back.

Before that there was Roloson in 06 for a first and a third.
