The craziest thing about Gretzky's points record is that Jagr, a legitimate "one of the best players of all time" contender, could play 35 years and still not beat it.

This is why I never understand the argument that because Gretzky played in a high-scoring era, his records don't mean as much. Sure, he did, but if you look at him and the next few top scorers, he was outscoring the rest by a huge margin.

another game at nationwide arena. everybody keeps asking me if they can fuck the cannon. buddy, they don't even let me fuck it

quote:

Last December, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan -- a longtime friend of Tortorella's -- sent out his team's top power play unit with 58 seconds remaining in a game Pittsburgh led 5-2 against the Blue Jackets. It's not something Tortorella has spoken of publicly, but it's the type of act he takes down as a mental note.

Up 6-1 in the third period on Thursday, Tortorella returned the favor, sending the NHL's top-ranked power play unit after a hooking penalty by Penguins defenseman Steve Oleksy at 4:21 of the third. The Jackets scored to make it 7-1 only three seconds after the power play ended. Sullivan could be seen smiling at talking to Tortorella across the benches late in the game.

I like it.

The double-hosed up thing is they're tied for the most points and least games played

This streak alone is gonna be enough to get them a comfortable seed in the playoffs unless they completely collapse in February, and from there who knows what happens

I can't comprehend the CBJ having games in hand over other teams because it never seems to happen. Apparently, they don't catch up until March, either.

The CBJ had a thing in their first few years which was a "Fans #1" jersey in and around the Arena which I don't even know if the fans knew about; I actually thought it was kind of dumb, but appreciated the thought. It wasn't a retired number, as a few guys wore #1 even before Mason.

Hitchcock ordered all references to it removed when he was hired and it was never heard from again.

COLUMBUS, OH – Over 200 people have been killed after the Blue Jackets goal cannon malfunctioned and fired live rounds into the crowd following a goal.

The incident occurred in the third period after the Jackets scored their seventh goal of the game and 108th of the season.

A team spokesman said that team's hot start to the season is to blame for the malfunction.

"The cannon has never gotten a workout like this one before," a team spokesman said after the game. "For the first time in the team's history, we're actually getting our money's worth for this thing."

Despite the tragic loss of life, fans who left the game early say they still want the cannon to stay.

"I think it brings a great atmosphere to the games," Grandview Heights resident Terry Wallace said. "Obviously fans of other teams are going to keep criticizing it like they always have, but there's nothing we can do about that."

According the local police department at press time, 215 people had been killed, with approximately another 400 being treated for wounds.

Pouliot's value has to be pretty low at this point. The Pens would probably be better off sending him down to the AHL and just hoping he can build himself back up.

Maf I think could be moved if they wanted to. They probably wouldn't get much but I'm sure a team would want him.
