New Drudkh sort of, a split with Paysage d'Hiver.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYT-Fugbv0U

It's pretty good but I dunno about these splits.

Like Season of Mist only references this song, but nothing about whatever Paysage d'Hiver brings to the table, which makes me think that this "split" is just a way of selling 1 Drudkh song to cash in on the namebrand and shovel some garbage in behind it. I've listened to a few Paysage d'Hiver songs and they are well, kind of poo poo.

They ARE selling it with a limited edition coloured vinyl though...hmmm

Edit:

Paysage is pretty poo poo, I've tried like 10 songs from various eras, this split will be a pass.

For good Atmospheric Ukrainian black metal though, Raventale released a new single "New World Planetarium":

https://raventale.bandcamp.com/

Good poo poo, maybe some of their best poo poo actually. Like a slower, mournful, more keyboard heavy Drudkh I suppose. The solo at 5:04 is beautiful

Ignore the guy on the bandcamp page namedropping Dissection - this is actually old school Scandinavian style death metal crossed with mulleted Spanish anarchists slamming kalimotxos in a lovely squatted youth club. I was lukewarm at first because it's kinda the same song 8 times, but now I find myself coming back to it because it's a fairly loving good song.

Other good post-black/blackgaze things to check out are two comps: Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer and The World Comes to an End in the End of a Journey.

Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer leans a bit towards neofolk, but has some real good poo poo like songs from Nechochwen, Fen, Gallowbraid, Nachtreich, Äldresjäl, Vindensång, and Spectral Lore.
https://pestproductions.bandcamp.com/album/der-wanderer-ber-dem-nebelmeer

The World Comes to an End in the End of a Journey is interesting because it came out shortly after Alcest's first album at a time when the genre of choice for moody people trying to mack sad black metal in their bedrooms was DSBM, and it showcases this weird transitional period before Alcest's second album and Deafheaven came out and made post-black/blackgaze the it thing.

Also probably Velvet Cacoon is worth checking out. Kind of on the borderline between normal atmospheric/ambient black metal in the early 2000s, and shoegaze type stuff like Alcest became famous for a few years later. Some of the music is quite decent, particularly the ambient/drone tracks. The guy behind it was also memorably insane cough syrup junkie full of lies and bizarre nonsense, a bit like Ghost Bath but really on another level.

Yes. Lunar Aurora is so loving good. I get that blackgaze/post-black rubs a lot of people the wrong way, but there's something about building off of the 2nd wave Norwegian stuff that really appeals to me.

Besides, as much as I love poo poo that sounds like it was recorded on a broken tapedeck from 1989, the sheer ammount of awful 2nd wave worship that's out there is both staggering and frustrating.

I do really like the recent resurgence of 1st wave style stuff too. Black Thrash or whatever the gently caress it's being called now, although I'm personally fond of "Black n' Roll" as a genre name.

I agree with all of this 100% even if a lot of the post deafheaven bands doing the blackgaze thing are lame as poo poo. Black metal is mostly dogmatic bullshit and it's great how some bands have busted through the cliches and carved out good sounds.

I don't actually think most of the blackgaze stuff is that close to second wave. It's superficially influenced in terms of what the instruments sound like but a lot of the bands can't write a good riff, and I think that might be because they don't have much of a connection to older heavy metal like the norwegians did.
