Okay, so I'm sharing this album mostly because I did the cover art for it, but DVNE's new album is really good. Getting nice reviews. Proggy stoner doom sludge, people compare them to Mastodon a lot (Blood Mountain/Crack the Skye era). Cool to see me scratches n' scribbles on a full-sized vinyl album :)

Yeah the DVNE is real good. Nice work on the cover art!

^ That is fantastic! Is your work all digital? I'm sloooowly working my way into linocut printmaking and what you did there is inspirational and is giving me ideas.

I'm digging the music too. I might have the auditory equivalent of prosopagnosia, but the very opening to the album has echoes of Tool to me. I know Tool and their fans can be... controversial, so it's not meant as an insult -- I genuinely liked it.

Anyone have any recommendations for Stoner/Doom/Sludge with Spanish language lyrics? All I've found so far is Viaje a 800, which is pretty good, but more would be good too. I'm a gringo in Latin America and I'm studying Spanish when I can but maybe some music would assist passive language acquisition as I work. Thanks!

Los Natas! Supremely underrated band from Argentina who started off as a Kyuss clone, before branching off into all kinds of interesting psychedelic Latin vibrations.

Thanks, and thanks to alla y'all! I can hear the Tool, as well as lots of other influences (Elder, Neurosis, etc). It was cool to be a part of the album process with those guys, they had a pretty specific idea about the concept of the album and they wanted it infused with the surreal/psychedelic linework I do. Almost all my work starts as traditional pen and ink on bristol (I use a 102 dipping crowquill with Black Magic ink), then I scan it in and color it with a Wacom tablet and Photoshop.

What, there's loads. Blood of Kingu, Bong, Ashdautas (for a couple different releases iirc), Wolok, Leviathan, Mizmor, and I feel like there was a Nightbringer album that had one but I can't find which one.

Not that I recognize, but whoever did the cover art for Anareta was definitely influenced by him

It's a split with Serpentinam.

Speaking of Nightbringer and cool art you should look at, David Herrerias did the art for Ego Dominus Tuus as well the side project Akhyls' The Dreaming I.

yeah, there was a new guy in the band when he died. it was due to an heart condition i think, so he might have quit because of it.

So these dudes are defunct now, but they were a local band that I very much dug. They played this full unreleased album one night at a bar and I'd been dying to give them money for it. They ended up never actually releasing it until today in order to support the engineer who recorded it, Greg Klaiber, who is currently battling cancer. They've all moved on with their lived and gone on to other projects, but the dudes were cool and I super dig this album, and maybe ya'll will to and might wanna throw some money at a good cause.

Cursing the One is like my go-to track when people ask me "what do you listen to? wait wtf is 'doom metal"?

Where death meets the Sea is better than the other track off the new album I think. its a hooky rock riff.
