It's almost like the Conservative party slowing down funding for like 10 years has effects on the state of health care, who loving knew? And now no one wants to pay more taxes cause your (hopefully you're American) stupid broke brain country infects us with its lovely tax-phobia

There were a few this spring, but we saw a drop off during the summer because everyone was on break.

Come to think of it, that must have been before Trump, so early last year? Because Trump hasn't had a big ol' shooting yet, has he?

Mass shootings in the US are so common that it doesn't even get the front page unless they crack double digits. And even then.

Insurance companies would probably favor something closer to a single payer system because it would remove individual and low-income beneficiaries from their books while leaving nothing but rich people who buy generous plans and typically have better health, including lower rates of smoking and alcohol abuse. It would also probably drive down the price of drugs, further increasing their profit margins.

Now pharmaceutical companies? Yeah, they would lose their poo poo.

Early statements on the proposal included allowing companies to ditch their mandated insurance and instead pay more taxes to support the program. I imagine insurance companies wouldn't like losing the steady constant revenue stream from that.

It's less to do with revenue and more to do with risk. It's why they hate the affordable care act right now.

Offer them contracts to handle claims processing and they'd probably be real fine with it. Take away the risk part, pay them to push papers, have the treasury cut the checks, that's like running a casino that doesn't have to pay out.

Why not both hang insurance execs as an example to the next crop not to have lovely practices and to do better and let them handle the paper pushing.
