I get a lot of unintentional save scumming due to the sheer number of crashes that happen

Anything with lost, and anything that plays with action points like grapple are huge triggers

Quality took a huge dip with wotc, and for whatever reason the XCOM team has very lovely post release support as far as fixes go

This is probably a campaign ender becaues of the attachments (which you can't get easily anymore now that they removed vulture), and other gear
That first loving Sectopod council mission has nearly ended two of my Legendary ironman runs. The second time I ran into that mission I had to sacrifice two soldiers (one of them was a major with a superior scope'd sniper rifle too) to make it out alive, although I did "succeed" in the mission by running everyone else the hell away.
I'm pretty sure there's 18 enemies on that one, including the Sectopod itself, which is crazy since you're most likely still stuck with mag rifles and plated armor.

Every time I use the dinner bell it seems to inevitably crash my game at some point, unless I help take down a bunch of Lost myself which sucks.
And yeah it seems like my game crashes like 10% of the time whenever a skirmisher uses their grappling hook. Fix your game Jake :argh:

Sort of? I think the game is busted in that it can't account for more than one capture. I had a Templar and a Ranger get captured in my Ironman run. A rescue mission for the Templar happened fairly quickly. The Ranger though....it's been six months :negative:

Few pages back:

I was able to eventually rescue both captured troopers. All gear returned. Nearly lost the Grenadier to his prison truck exploding in a hail of overwatch fire. They get 5 health as a VIP instead of their soldier health.

In many ways, the Skirmisher class draws from many of the same ideas. Some overwatch gimmicks, early double-fire, and general reliability. I haven't used any infantry class mods since before the Rulers DLC, but I don't really feel the lack anymore tbh.

Plus, with the new AP system Specialists have a really good chance of rolling Rapid Fire and/or Chain Shot for their bonus skills, so there's no shortage of good riflemen among the base classes.

Speaking of reaper interactions, apparently Banish doesn't get to shoot more than once if you use it on an unactivated pod and make them scamper, even with the upgrade.

I've not had any crashes either and I constantly alt-tab and all sorts of other stuff that would normally trigger it. Which is nice.

XCOM doesn't crash from abusing alt tab and such, it crashes (as it did in vanilla) due to bugs with movement calculation - which is why you'd get crashes a lot when using the officer action perk thing to get an extra blue move in LW2, or crashes when grappling

Is the RAGE suit really good for anything in particular? The Icarus and Serpent suits have pretty obvious benefits, but I struggle to think of a scenario in which I'd rather use the RAGE suit than a WAR or WRAITH.

Also I have no idea where the hell the Archon King has gone. Ever since the Retaliation mission many months ago where he wrecked my poo poo and I emergency evac'd, I haven't heard a peep from him. All other Rulers dead but still no sign :tinfoil:

Once you get Elerium armor did you get an option to upgrade the suit to armor? If so, the RAGE suit is just a WAR suit with extra mobility and a melee attack (that's a free action!) instead of the cover generator.

I put it on my Ranger for the +1 Movement. The RAGE Strike isn't really super useful except for I think blowing up cover, but it doesn't lose much in exchange for the Movement and can still mount Heavy Weapons. Since they needed to be closer to enemies and it scared the hell out of Berserkers literally every time, it was kind of hilarious. I'd run up, slash a Berserker. They'd panick and not counter and then when they try to flee they get slashed again.

Also the Assassin's sword is insanely good and thanks to it being pretty much guaranteed damage was a valid alternative to her shotgun.

The project when you research it is called "Hanzo" as well.

While I'm not having any crashes there's an insane amount of bugs. Now for a lot of my shots it zooms in on my character's face. So I can't see what the gently caress has just happened. Or I'll get a slow motion overwatch shot that never fires but the entire rest of the enemy's turn is in slow motion.

And something that might be a bug but I'm not sure. The Templar resistance order that makes all abnormal mental states only last for a turn means they basically run out instantly. So if you get beserk it just means you get a free go at shooting four times at an enemy, then it's fine next go. It's either super strong or bugged, anyway.

"Ah," Ratz had said, at last, "the artiste."
Hey guys I've been playing WoTC on PS4 and I'm exceptionally bad at it, but I have a few questions;

-If I choose to disable the Lost & Abandoned mission on restart, am I hosed out of hanging with the cast of TNG? It's not a bad mission but it takes like half an hour and you literally get no rewards at the end of it.

-Is it just me or are reapers absurdly useful compared to the other new classes? The other two are still good, and granted I'm only midway through their talent tree, but scouting and remote detonation is basically insane.

-Do covert missions cycle out or do ones you haven't done stay available? I got two back-to-back 'delay the Avatar' deals when I was only at like four pips but I did them for fear of 'missing' them when there was other cool poo poo I wanted to do.

-Is there a cap on +Aim and +Mobility bonuses from covert ops and the like, or could I hypothetically create some some kind of god-soldier who can run a mile on a single turn and 100%s every shot?

-Are SPARKs still worth it, especially if you don't get the free one from playing Shen's Gift? Seems like you'd need to get one early to make it worthwhile and they're pretty expensive if I remember right.

Reapers are very hard to build wrong once you realize they're scouting and demotions with one-off instakill (if you can kit them right). The aesthetic gets too many people thinking of sniping before they figure that out.

Templars require you to get good rolls on extra skills and aren't even that good without Bladestorm, but if they get more than two of those key skills they're ridiculous.

Skirmishers require you to plan their build based on mobility and slashing or tonnes of free actions but their weapons are their glaring weakness.

Reapers are great, but I love my Templar to death (guaranteed damage and the ability to hit and run are great, even more fun with Reaper). I find Skirmishers a little lacking by comparison. Reapers can be frustrating if there aren't any cars in the right place though.

They reroll every month, although the "search for the chosen" mission always stays there if you haven't found the applicable chosen yet.

Yeah, to really drill in the Reapers part.

They are loving awful snipers in a game that already hates snipers. If you use them as a sniper, you will find them the worst of the classes.

If you have them be your scout, and have them dick around looking around the rest of the map to find things to blow up/pod wipe while your team fights initial pods, they are a godsend.

SPARKs are definitely worth it if you get a Plasma Blaster because it makes Null Lance look like poo poo. Shredstorm Cannon can also delete half the board. Can you afford one with integrated DLC? Doubtful on Commander and up, as it will be a level behind your human gear for months. If you plan to do the whole Tower mission then they're worth the rest of the investment without question.

The star of this campaign has definitely been my Templar. Gotta be said; a Templar with Bladestorm and Reaper is loving absurd. She's basically an "I win this mission no problem guaranteed" card I can slot in whenever she isn't tired.

Also highly recommend enabling bonus skills for SPARKs. It helps make them a more attractive option. One of mine has Chain Shot which has been really useful. The other just picked up Death From Above which seems like it could be great seeing how easy it is to get the high ground with a SPARK.

Bobcats
Aug 5, 2004
Oh
I ended up kind of scumming the final mission because it refused to let me bring two SPARKs even though both were available. I ended up bringing a rather bad Templar because he was bonded to a Support and I missed a crucial Teamwork.

I ended up with

Plot Reaper (KIA)
SPARK with Shredstorm (wasted Shredstorm, Punch, Overdrive on Warlock invuln )
Generic Skirmisher
Maxed PSI Operative
Healer Support
Templar with Reaper

Final blow was with SPARK Punch.

FYI - the Warlock's ghost army thing - which I had never seen prior - makes it invulnerable. I would have killed him off prior but the final mission plot kind of compels you, roleplay-wise, to start it. Previous to this I'd just body him because he was Brittle.

Without Lost and Abandoned you don't get the VO from that mission and those specific characters, obviously, but I'm about 90% sure that the voice sets they are assigned by default are still those particular actors anyway, so you would just need to set the random Skirmisher and Reaper you get instead to those voice sets. (so Male Skirmisher 1 and Female Reaper 1, I think?)

The faction leaders who are ALSO voiced by TNG alums (Betos/Geist/Volk) remain unchanged regardless of Lost & Abandoned except, again, that you're missing their VO from that mission if you disable it.
