THUNDERDOME LOSER 2020
You know, I got to thinking about yurl, inteligent plants, and spray a brain type stuff. Orriginally developed to make inteligent banana plantatiobs, I like to think all the plants are inteligent becayse of that. This would make yurls offering of his fruit make sense, its like a self harvesting instinct. Then I thought of the bananas and how they try and crush you, and realized they were just especially agressive about self harvesting. :weed:

Oh, I'm well aware. Ran out of mind-lasers and was getting beat up by a snapjaw, prosletized him into joining me on my quest. With his help I murdered his friends and ate them. He seemed okay with this. I obtained the required amount of wire (Snapjaw friend died to a quill-firing bush, he will be missed but was also delicious) and attempted to return to Joppa. Got lost on the way home, ran into some kind of psychic phantom twice, felt like an end quest boss fight but I know it wasn't a scripted thing, my glimmer is just that high now. "Regained my bearings" a tile east of Joppa. Lol. Turned in the quest, learned Tinker I, bought out most of Argyve's shop. No idea where to go from here but at least I'll always have a quick route home now.

My wife wanted to know what I was laughing about earlier so I gave her a very matter of fact explanation of what was going on in game.

There's no way to explain the things that happen in Qud without sounding like a loving lunatic. I love it.

In the days of the Eaters, before widespread mutation and the great saltening of the earth, people were randomly selected to recieve exorbitant and boisterous engravings and embeddings from their local cybernetics kiosks. These "lucky" individuals were the talk of their community, and these implants were status symbols to the point where individuals were frequently murdered and disassembled for these "pimped out" cybernetics.

These days though, it's just pointlessly gaudy.

... What.

Okay, I ran around for a bit, pressed the button and... nothing happens! Until the next turn, when I moved. I proceeded to spew acid gas around myself for 6 turns and died.

Its extremely helpful as a panic button, but you generally want to wait until you have a vinewood sap or gas mask.

edit: even if you dont have a mask you can usually get out of it if you use it and then keep moving in the same direction, so its nice when being chased

I have no idea what a two sided dice looks like, but I do appreciate this is an odd floating cube. The blink is very useful, but also hilariously broken. I was thinking the blink was like.. 5~10 tiles. It actually just punts you around the map.

If you want to be really sure you can also pick the +elemental resist cybernetic at chargen to get some extra acid resistance. And toss a couple of your starting artifacts to Argyve to get your first level without leaving town and then buy the Shake it Off skill from the endurance tree to get some resistance against stun and confuse, in case the conch decides to pick those gases instead. Tam usually also has a vinewood sap mask for sale, so you can usually have pretty decent set of resists up from the moment you leave Joppa. Though waiting for a couple of levels for more hp and/or bribing the Joppians with water for the harvest skill so you can maintain a supply of witchwood bark to top off your health while you run away is a good idea if you plan on regularily spewing random gases around you. You can also unequip the conch to suspend the gas flow temporarily, though it will continue spewing the same gas from where it left off once you re-equip it.

I want to say that a two-sided dice would be a coin.

But imagine you flip a coin enough times.

Imagine if one day, it lands on its edge.

People in Qud use water as currency; of course they don't know what coins are. Clearly those are weird two-sided dice.

Mmmhmm, yes. I suppose I will attend your ball. Someone must class up the affair, musn't he?
  • Added an overlay UI screen for cybernetics selection during character creation.
  • Removed the guaranteed credit wedge from Mafeo's inventory; we meant to remove this wedge when we gave Q Girl one, but we never did.
  • Autoequip no longer equips multiple torches.
  • Fixed an issue where fungal infections would knock cybernetic implants out of their equipment slots.
  • Fixed NPC templars not being recognized as True Kin by becoming nooks.
  • You can no longer install cybernetic implants on non-natural body parts, like the additional face slot created by two-faced helmets.
  • Fixed an issue serializing objects with butcherable cybernetic implants.
  • Fixed an issue causing autoget to not pick up closed containers of fresh water.
  • Fixed some issues causing autoget to cycle through fresh water puddles forever if the player didn't have room to carry more water in their inventory.
  • Fixed some issues causing 'w'alk and autoexplore to differ in their decisions about what hostiles they stopped for.
  • Fixed some issues causing autoexplore to swap with enemies, particularly turrets.
  • Fixed some issues causing autoexplore to not recognize hostile turrets as hostile.

Holy poo poo, thank you so much for this change, it was really grating having that basically breaking auto explore, because your dude would beeline for the loving water every time regardless of him having any free room.

So NPC Templars will use the becoming nooks, potentially taking and installing the cybernetic that's found there?

I think it was more someone bringing up that they couldn't use one with a dominated putus templar since it recognized them as a mutant instead of a truekin.

For experimenting you can dominate something to pour it on another screen, or oddly enough pouring it out over yourself is perfectly safe.

Cut off a mimic's face while confused, it stayed weird forever. I like to imagine that this is like the constantly morphing face camouflage in A Scanner Darkly.
Also, mimics have faces? When pretending to be concrete walls?
