Barent posted:What are early impressions? I was hugely into 5 but 6 seemed pretty bad so I held off. Expansion fix enough stuff to be worth it or should I wait until the next expansion? The "bad" are generally AI and UI complaints (which are legit). The more you are bothered by AI and UI oversights -- and some of them are significant -- the more you will not like it. The less those bother you . . . you still may not like it, because districts prevent you from building everything and every wonder in a given city. I think districts and the terrifying barbarians are the best additions to Civilization, but YMMV.

If my Steam playtimes are to be believed, Civ 6 is slightly better than Beyond Earth and much worse than Civ 5. If you can pick it up at budget prices you might not be disappointed.

Are there also patch notes that list bugfixes, balance fixes, ai,... of things that existed before the expansion ?

Here's patch notes: quote:Base Game Patch Notes The patch is available now, it seems.

That 'enhancement' to the mapgen is actually just them fixing something they broke and then left broken for like a year, right? 10 Crowns sounds interesting, shame they are unlikely to make it in Starbreeze Stockholm though.

So it seems like it'll be harder to get a science victory. Throw that on top of it being almost impossible to get a religious victory on higher levels and you're kind of limited in how you play.

Throw that on top of it being almost impossible to get a religious victory on higher levels and you're kind of limited in how you play. The hardest part of the Science victory was rarely the teching up (if anything teching up has always been rather fast in VI), it's the production time on the projects (this can be mitigated by landing the proper Great People and/or abusing plot harvests). Unless you mean making the AI sabotage your Spaceports more. In which case, just have a Spy counterspy and run the diplo policy that reduces enemy spy level in your lands.

Awesome, I can't even launch a new game. It just goes to the "Loading Please Wait" screen then dumps me to the main menu edit: I'm an idiot who left some mods on. It launches now. Turn your mods off! weg fucked around with this message at 06:56 on Feb 8, 2018 |

The combat AI seems a lot better- loving Netherlands decided to invade and came with enough units to take the city if I hadn't been about to get city walls. It was still a tough fight. Not sure if they had some kind of dark age upgrade or something because her archers were murdering me and barely taking damage. Pretty impressed so far. Learning how to best utilize the governors is going to be interesting.

The AI does seem a bit less braindead than before (maybe not good, but they can pounce on an open ranged unit). Still Crushed Russia as Rome which took me from "barely making a normal age" to "halfway to golden age" in the ancient->classical transition, but that was as much because Peter was focusing on wonders, settlers and conquering a neighbor city state (which liberating gave me more points). Ended up with a *whopping* 85/46 needed points for golden age when I moved to Medieval and now I have +2 movement on workers, and the ability to buy worker/settlers super cheap with faith.

Coorrrr, all four version of The Cree's soundtrack are utterly, completely awesome. I don't know how to explain it, but that higher-pitched warbling singing is cool to listen to just on its own but in tandem with an orchestral backing is just phenomenal.

John F Bennett posted:So the AI has been improved now? Thanks in advance to post some experiences. Catherine's been bitchslapping Teddy Roosevelt left and right in this game, and took Kinchassa from Mvemba earlier as well...dunno how well they do against players but Peter actually put up half a fight against my invading army. Wasn't enough but I did have like 1.5x what he had. The AI is also very NOT immune to city flipping like they were in V with their happiness bonus: I watched as Mvemba peacefully reclaimed Kinchassa from Catherine via loyalty-flip.

So the new city banner is nice and definitely more informative than before. I might even like it better than CQUI if not for the fact I miss the specialty district icons. Seems like they more or less ‘borrowed’ a whole bunch of the CQUI tweaks.
