I really wish they hadn’t chased off the 15 guy. I loved that game, so seeing what he could do with 16 would have been very nice.

As director of FFXVI I've change my mind and we will be reworking the entire project. It is now a cerebral puzzle game based on the dead "Go!" franchise.

Update on FFXVI, I'm now spinning the project off into three games. The first will be a traditional Final Fantasy experience using sprite based graphics and an ATB battle system whose translation I am leaving up entirely to a professor of early English literature who speaks no Japanese whatsoever. The second is a combat heavy 3d game where you can dress up your character in any outfit you design by scanning your receipts from any brand in the Kering Group. The third is a live concert experience based on the principles of the theater of the oppressed where audience members will be expected to become spect-actors and attempt to make the cutscenes come to a better conclusion.

The story for this trilogy will be told entirely through a tie-in graphic novel only available at a single Lawson's in Japan.

I was in the shower thinking about FFXV, as you do, and it occured to me that Ardyn being in Insomnia in his episode and fighting Regis and terrorizing the city is a massive retcon, because why the gently caress would they let this dude back into the city in Kingsglaive and why would Regis and the rest of the government officials not immediately try to murder this super terrorist who just waltzes into their throne room, especially since Regis should know that this dude is The Evil? Unless the Crystal just magically makes everybody forget about all that, but just saying that would be real lame.

It's really loving basic though.
The story is fairly predictable to a point, the characters are mostly two dimensional, the music is really really bad and it looks and feels like a late PS2 game.

I liked it, but by Act 3 it had overstayed its welcome

Am I handsome now?

I barely played FF9 back in the day but picked it up on the Switch. In the beginning, as Vivi, I was given three cards for whatever the cardgame is and everyone I challenged said I needed at least five. I'm at the first boss in the woods now and I'm realizing there were cards back in that first city. I thought the game was on hard rails at that point and didn't really explore much. I don't really feel like restarting at this point but I'm here in the thread to ask if I missed anything significant.

Mega64 posted:

The card game is utter garbage. There's one point mid-game where you're required to play, and if you win all three matches you get a nice item (you get one shot for the third match, but you can savescum it), but just random enemy card drops will be enough for you to brute force it. Otherwise there's no reason at all to play the card game, and even "for fun" it's incredibly random and stupid and pointless.

The big thing is to not sell your old gear, since there are uses to some of it later on.

Thank you for the input.
