I am not an egghead. I am well-read.
Let's see now. I'll stick to games since the stuff like comic books isn't in this forum's wheelhouse.

Yooka-Laylee (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/playtonic/yooka-laylee-a-3d-platformer-rare-vival) - Successfully came out, to differing reviews. I played some of it, had fun, but I never had an N64 so I missed the heyday of Rare collect-a-thons.

Underworld Ascendant (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/othersidegames/underworld-ascendant) - I put $100 into this because Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games. I don't know exactly what went wrong behind the scenes, but what we got was an incredibly feature-stripped down showcase for Source engine-level physics puzzles and a ton of glitches and bugs. Massive disappointment.

Dragon Fin Soup (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/grimmbros/dragon-fin-soup) - Came out, I never played it much. Looked neat but I never really was slavering for it. It was more a 'hey that looks neat' pledge. Read that it's okay but nothing special.

Project Rain World (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rain-world/project-rain-world) - Came out, got a lot of praise from a lot of people and a lot of criticism from people who were unprepared for how freaking hard it is. I am one of the latter. The atmosphere is great, the controls can be hard to handle at times, and your slugcat's life is sure to be measured in minutes.

Night in the Woods (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1307515311/night-in-the-woods) - Came out to great success. Atmosphere, music, writing, all good. I never finished it, playing a chapter a night, because the ennui of living in a dying small town and trying to figure out what to do when everything starts crumbling was hitting just a bit too close to home. I intend to go back and do the game the justice it deserves.

Knight in the Ghost Lights (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2011341880/knite-and-the-ghost-lights/posts/2678099) - A rough one. Funded in 2014, then updates started becoming sporadic. The most recent update, from November of this year, indicates that one of the heads suffered a stroke and is in Russia with no health insurance. Using the one hand he can control, he has apparently written a short story about the lore/plot of the game and they're working out how to get this to backers. I believe this might be the only thing we get.

Confederate Express (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/829559023/confederate-express) - A complete pump and chump scam. Whip up an impressive little scene with some free software packages, get some cash, run back to being squatters and drifters. Not a failure technically because there was never a game. Just confidence fraud.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1236620800/shantae-half-genie-hero) - Came out, complete success. A lot of fun to play. Included crossovers from other indie titles that changed up the gameplay.

Divinity: Original Sin (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/larianstudios/divinity-original-sin) - Backed on the strength of Larian, and came out successfully. A fun game but didn't mesh with me in some ways; the battles becoming careful planning of laying down poison and fire fields just felt kind of wonky. Never finished it.

Foxtail (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1988474932/foxtail) - An old-school point and click adventure game about a teenage fox girl visiting her grandma in the woods that may be more fanciful than she thought, to figure out what her granddad was up to. Didn't reach funding, however the team continued development and released on Steam in early access; they have two chapters complete and a third one being actively worked on.

Tangletorn (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tangletorn/tangletorn) - A deck-building roguelike game where you head across a map to various points to gather materials and cards, and combat is a deal with combining cards to form attack patterns. Currently active till January, over its goal and working on stretch goals.

Something playable (supposedly, I don't trust it enough to launch it) eventually came out but it bears very, very little resemblance to the pitch in the actual campaign

Been following that one for years, I don't think the guy is even posting about the game on twitter anymore. Last I heard he was conflicted about having to update the game engine to a new Unity version/DX11. I don't think this one was on KS, but was on Greenlight ages ago and has a release date of 2017 on Steam for some reason.

This one seems to be in development hell, or otherwise just very slow going? There's been updates, but not sure why it's taking so long.

The demo was neat, but it was hard to tell how that would turn into a larger game. The updates I remember seeing were mostly technically oriented, so I wonder if the dev wasn't able to come up with a way to go beyond what was in the demo in terms of game play. That or they just got bored with it.

Yeah, I think "hey it looks neat" is why I pledged as well, because otherwise I can't figure out why the hell I ever thought that looked good. It's got a lot of procedural dungeons, but what absolutely kills the game is the level scaling keeping you from ever feeling comfortable no matter how much you level up. There are guns as a weapon type, but they're pretty useless because you'll never do enough damage with them to be able to recoup the amount of money you're spending in bullets. Couple that with an awful, RNG and grind-based crafting system, I can't believe I gave that thing 30 hours of playtime before giving up.

It was a fun game which I liked a lot and did finish, but it's pretty long and playing the Alpha/Beta burned me out on the starting area, which is full of too much talking and long-winded NPC's that I've never been able to get past the starting area again.

As long as we're still posting the status of backed games:

Double Fine Adventure: came out eventually, was Okay, I guess
Code Hero: never produced anything beyond the demo, disappeared off of the face of the earth
Wasteland 2: came out, was probably good but the character creation was maybe too much like the classic style and intimidated me away from playing much
The Banner Saga: I think all of the parts are out now. It's neat but also I never played more than halfway through the first part.
TAKEDOWN: was supposed to be like a SWAT type of game, came out but was hot garbage
Shadowrun Returns: came out, was pretty good
Word Realms: came out, was a pretty enjoyable word game
Kinetic Void: I think it came out and I was like "why did I back this" and never touched it
Tex Murphy: I won the little raffle that they probably weren't supposed to do and got the $1000 tier for $30. Game came out and it was as expected.
Moon Intern: Seems pretty dead.
Castle Story: came out, but was another one where I was like "why did I back this" and never played it.
Shadowrun Online: came out really late, was like a bad version of Shadowrun Returns but with co-op, I think the servers are down now. Why did I throw away money on this.
Mercenary Kings: Pretty neat that I can make a trombone toilet gun.
Planetary Annihilation: Came out, I was suckered in by it looking neat and forgot that I don't like RTS. Jesus Christ why was I so bad with my money in the early 2010s
Project Eternity (PoE): came out and was pretty neat.
Sealark: never came out but at least the dev was honest and upfront about it instead of letting it quietly die.
Distance: pretty neat looking arcade racer, came out.
Sui Generis: came out with a short, mediocre dungeon crawler that kind of controlled like crap.
Radio the Universe: still not out. As stated in other posts the dev seems to post on Twitter about status updates now instead of kickstarter, and it seems maybe kind of close to release finally.
Barkley 2: dead, recently had some neat forums drama I guess
Torment: Tides of Numenera: came out, had some neat stuff in it but wasn't mind-blowing
Divinity: OS: came out, pretty dang fun.
A Hat in Time: came out, also pretty dang fun
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero: came out, good and had good music
Divinity: OS2: came out and is really, really dang good

also it was Indiegogo but the Switch version of Indivisible still isn't out so I have no opinion of it yet.
