My parents have a 4K HDR LG and it’s slow as hell. As someone who uses the built-in smart TV apps over a Fire Stick/Roku/etc, I couldn’t handle that.

Generally LG is considered to have the best UI as well. Maybe they have a mid ranger model? The praise is usually reserved for the C or maybe B lines.

Sony explained what's going on with that new voice chat thing you might be hearing about. Summary: - PS5 and PS4 players can talk to each other (that's why the warning appeared on PS4). - PS5 voice chat is always recording the past five minutes of said voice chat. - If you file a harassment report, you can include an offending voice clip of that voice chat in your report (20 seconds of the offending incident, 10 seconds before and after). - Reports are filed directly through the PS5 console and reviewed by a moderation staff.

Peak brightness should only affect highlights in a very small percentage of total picture area. If it's too bright then it's the opposite of high dynamic range, same as loudness war hyper-compressed music.

They never quite figure out how to configure HDR and they didn't turn off the ambient screen brightness so every time a cloud passes by the sun the entire city turns dark but when it's a full moon it turns back into day.

PS4 only records 1 minute of my gameplay, per my settings. and I can set it specifically to not record my voice in chats, or let others record my voice in their chats. So this is a marked privacy change, and I'm happy to call it out as hosed up surveilance creep.

That being said, I got a 900h because I have no patience and the price was right. I have it sitting next to an LG OLED we bought a few years ago and the picture is pretty drat good in the side by side. Obviously it doesn't have that beautiful pure black contrast of the OLED but the colors are still very vibrant and playing games on it feels super smooth.
