Any recommendations for a jazz album that really shows off a Fender Rhodes keyboard? I love the sound of that instrument and I’d like a record that makes for great night music.

Edit: akin to Bill Evans.

Looking to fill out my playlist.

70s songs about going somewhere or being somewhere warm on a beach, electric pianos and jangly guitar encouraged.

So far I have:
Escape (Piña colada song)
Margaritaville
Daniel - Elton John

So not really "yacht rock", Sailing sounds too studio and not really "bright" enough. It would be easy to turn to reggae, although I'm not looking to build a reggae list - "Dreadlock Holiday" did cross my mind though, as it's about travel to Jamaica and that foreignness in a new place is something I'm trying to get in the playlist.

This isn't really my normal kind of music, so I'm short on ideas.

Feel like there are some steps that could transition the playlist through to Horse With No Name and Hotel California - would really appreciate any suggestions!

E: some further info:
Kokomo is too 80s (but would go well with Smooth Operator, Isla Bonita, and Duran Duran's Rio).
Ain't No Sunshine is too much strings
Mungo Jerry's In The Summertime is a song very dear to me but a bit too energetic and not laid back enough

So I had never heard of this before and did a bit of a dive in. Turns out this Gezebelle Gaburgably fucker is playing a show called Virginfest here in Atlanta on 9/11 with other bands called poo poo like NEET, an hero, and badtakesonly. yeah i jumped into their last.fm page and related artists and such and god drat what a toxic cesspit of "artists"

op i'm not sure what to recommend you but there's lots of good bedroom pop artists. generally less punk/more slow and artsy than these guys but maybe you'll dig it anyways for the aesthetic. i personally like bellows and lvl up, they have a bunch of related acts too but i'm not familiar with them like eskimeaux/gabby's world and told slant.

also grass widow. i also thought of the mae shi, but they're completely different from these other bands. more like noise rock i guess

So my one of my favorite pop groups of all time are The Scissors Sisters, particularly their albums up to Night Work--which is their magnum opus--though Magic Hour has some bangers. Can anyone recommend some pop/rock/alt groups post 2013 that hit that perfect level of camp and legitimate groove? I apologize if that's vague, it's just that their specific brand of theatricality hits close to my heart.

if you can't distinguish satire from the earnest source material, then there's no reason to listen to it

either it's not satire and you're just consuming poo poo, or it is satire and it's gone over your head in which case you're just consuming it on that same level anyways

that's not a failing on your part per se, this guy might just suck at satire (or more likely he's just "ironically" spreading hate)

It seems pretty irony poisoned whatever it is, and it's telling that there seems to be a "scene" of this stuff that seems to exist almost in isolation. I'd personally be wary of it.

quote:

Scott Pilgrim vs the World Ruined a Whole Generation of Women[Verse 1]
BPD and Ecstasy, conceited with low self-esteem
She's a teenage dream if you hate yourself
Bright dyed hair and obnoxious clothes
Thinks communism is the way to go
She's a whore, a hole, a dime-a-dozen Jezebel
Fluoride mind and SSRIs
A thousand-yard stare for all those guys
That she hosed and sucked before you came along
Retarded views on politics
Likes to listen to lovely music
She drinks and smokes and tokes out of a dirty bong

[Chorus]
She saw Ramona Flowers
And felt so empowered
By a movie made in Hollywood
It's sad to think she's someone's daughter
Like a lamb to the slaughter
But honestly, I'd still hit if I could

[Verse 2]
BPD and Ecstasy, 30 years old but acts like she's 16
Likes to go to shows 'cause she's so loving cool
Bright-dyed hair but dead inside
Plan-B lifetime supply
She's a whore, a hole, gave head since middle school
Only pedophiles in denial think she's anything worthwhile
Her infertile lifestyle will drive you wild
She's an alcoholic loser bitch that likes to listen to lovely music
She drinks and smokes and tokes and chokes on dick
Which got called an incel anthem by Anthony fantano, prompting this diss track:

quote:

[Intro]
I'm wonderin' what kind of rut you need to be
Stuck in to be recording music review videos
I'm wonderin' what kind of rut you need to be
Stuck in to be watching music review videos

[Chorus]
I think kids that watch The Needle Drop are obnoxious snobs
Brainwashed by media and other drugs
They get off on mentally jacking off
And they talk too much about retarded stuff
And that's the kind of rut you need to get out of

[Verse 1]
You're an MK ULTRA victim
You got poison in your system
Why the gently caress are you listening
To a nerd with bad opinions
You eat poo poo and you love it
You're a douchebag and a human being
You have lovely taste in music
You're so ugly and loving stupid

[Chorus]
I think kids that watch The Needle Drop are obnoxious snobs
Brainwashed by media and other drugs
They get off on mentally jacking off
And they talk too much about retarded stuff
And that's the kind of rut you need to get out of

[Verse 2]
The Needle Drop is just commercials for
Kids with parents that are divorced
They talk a lot about nothing at all
Prolly 'cause they're high on Adderall
They get hosed up the rear end and love it
They have really lovely taste in music
There's nothing worse than a melophile
Except maybe a loving pedophile

As said earlier, if you can’t tell if it’s ironic or not, it doesn’t matter.

It’s garbage music for garbage people. Not a dig at your taste op, and I don’t have any lo-fi pop punk type stuff to suggest if you like that sound, but negative xp is trash.
