Any recommendations for a jazz album that really shows off a Fender Rhodes keyboard? I love the sound of that instrument and I’d like a record that makes for great night music. Edit: akin to Bill Evans. Kart Barfunkel fucked around with this message at 22:51 on Jun 18, 2021 |

alright found this kinda vibe i like but the one guy i found that does it well turned out to be an incel (and so are like MOST of his fans apparently) so uhhh anyone got any good poo poo that sounds like gezebelle gaburgably but isn't... incelcore? for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieKPD88Ll6o

yeah i jumped into their last.fm page and related artists and such and god drat what a toxic cesspit of "artists" op i'm not sure what to recommend you but there's lots of good bedroom pop artists. generally less punk/more slow and artsy than these guys but maybe you'll dig it anyways for the aesthetic. i personally like bellows and lvl up, they have a bunch of related acts too but i'm not familiar with them like eskimeaux/gabby's world and told slant. also grass widow. i also thought of the mae shi, but they're completely different from these other bands. more like noise rock i guess

what the hell, here's a live mae shi video. they seemed like so much loving fun. they definitely had the plucky lofi vibe of that incel band https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu-3o0AdIzg

the above recs are good, I'd also check out Basically Anything K-Records Ever Made, especially because the large number of female artists should be a good counterpoint to all that incel poo poo. A lot of them do the teen/early 20s "singing about my breakup :'( " stuff but without as much misogyny, I hope https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaIZsCYxAzQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGKN2aGXRCo (yes I've already recommended Tiger Trap itt but I really like Tiger Trap ok) edit: maybe even riot grrl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYT0gtjd60A kingcobweb fucked around with this message at 20:00 on Jun 22, 2021 |

I'm wondering if going back a bit further to C86 and mid-eighties jangly punk-pop like The Vaselines and The Shop Assistants might be your thing. https://youtu.be/SQi8MMWT2TE https://youtu.be/wU9fZkXHqns

So my one of my favorite pop groups of all time are The Scissors Sisters, particularly their albums up to Night Work--which is their magnum opus--though Magic Hour has some bangers. Can anyone recommend some pop/rock/alt groups post 2013 that hit that perfect level of camp and legitimate groove? I apologize if that's vague, it's just that their specific brand of theatricality hits close to my heart.

if you can't distinguish satire from the earnest source material, then there's no reason to listen to it either it's not satire and you're just consuming poo poo, or it is satire and it's gone over your head in which case you're just consuming it on that same level anyways that's not a failing on your part per se, this guy might just suck at satire (or more likely he's just "ironically" spreading hate)

I had a similar thing with negative xp, stumbled upon him without knowing anything about him and enjoyed some stuff before I realised what the gently caress he was singing about. Haven't listened since anyway, the reason I initially liked it was because it reminded me of Teen Suicide, who are similar but better and not incel garbage. Try dc snuff film/waste yrself

High on Fire gets listed as stoner/sludge metal pretty often. Maybe check out Kyuss, Mastodon, Orange Goblin, Sleep or Electric Wizard and see if any of those grab you.

Definitely early Mastodon. Cult of Luna and Kylesa are pretty similar, maybe Baroness' first two albums and early EPs, maybe Dirge and Dead to a Dying World for something a bit slower.
