The other, much larger part of the Wrecker was still too far blitzed on feelgood drugs to have any appropriate fear for the Reaper. "Y'hear that, Flotsam?" Maru spoke to the sickly biocover in his lap. "Sweet, silent success." The Marine Biocover Flotsam croaked wetly in restrained excitement, no longer quite so prepared to die. There was a sudden burst of trickling static throughout Maru's rig readouts that tickled his eyegear ferociously, even as he successfully resolved the ambient static into coherent visuals. He could just barely make it out: A purple door was opening at the entrance of the D-formed Strato-Cradle, releasing a large cloud of steam and smoke amid a colorful shower of lasers, sparks, and other mystical special effects. A strange aural hallucination began manifesting in Maru's audio centers, gripping the Exo-Wrangler's fascinated attention. Over an acoustic guitar repeating simple chords, he heard facets of his own inner voice interacting with an [outsider] within his mind, one that reminded him faintly of Rozegold...
