MakaVillian posted:True draft value is subjective but your draft team should still be working up likely preferences for the rest of the league and clearly neither Buffalo or Carolina were going to pick him. Sure an extra 4th or 5th isn't likely to make a big difference but you still need to maximize all aspects of your draft, getting locked in on 1 guy is how you do things like draft Penix #8 or Bo Nix #12. I think a lot of fans forget that trading down can only be done if you have a willing trade partner. In the majority of cases, such a team simply doesn't exist. No one is interested in trading to that spot.

With that said he’s on the hawks so yes he will be the best guard from this class (maybe best guard in the league)!! Screw you Niners!

I don't understand the game theory behind single-draft position trades. It seems like either the teams want the same player (so why trade down?) or they don't (so why trade up?) Do they only happen in a narrow band of strategic ambiguity? Or is it the kind of thing where the team trading down says "ok you can have the guy in exchange for a late-round pick?"

Usually they have a guy they really want, and hear other teams in front of them want to pick them so it's more or less grab the guy you really want vs 2 guys you kinda like.

It's way more often team one spot ahead doesn't want the guy, but there may be multiple teams behind that want them - so the team shops out the pick to the team that gives them the best trade deal. The team trading up really wants that guy and doesn't want another team to move into that spot.

Seahawks pick a LB in the fourth. Tyrice Knight is has bad size, average strength, good speed. Odd combo for a LB. Guess it’s TE-coverage and anti-screen LB duties? Potential good special teamer.

In the division, I would rate the Cardinals' draft highest, followed by the Seahawks', then the Rams, then the 49ers. Kind of a not super impressive draft compared to some others imo, especially for the Rams and Niners although I'm hoping I'm wrong. The Bears, Broncos, Jets, Steelers and Dolphins were teams that I think did very very well.

Seahawks total: Round 1, Pick 16: Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas Round 3, Pick 81: Christian Haynes, G, UConn Round 4, Pick 118: Tyrice Knight, LB, UTEP Round 4, Pick 121: AJ Barner, TE, Michigan Round 5, Pick 136: Nehemiah Pritchett, CB, Auburn Round 6, Pick 179: Sataoa Laumea, OT, Utah Round 6, Pick 192: D.J. James, CB, Auburn Round 6, Pick 207: Michael Jerrell, OT, Findlay Definitely a new era with an oddly safe and thoughtful draft. No RBs and actually drafting for the biggest needs. 3 OL, 2 CB, 1 LB, 1 DT, and 1 TE. Would have been cool to see a QB in there but wow were they overvalued in this draft.

I was a little surprised to see Seattle didn't grab a WR/RB at least as a return specialist. Overall though I don't hate what they did, they weren't trying to be cute and the trade down was at a good spot.

I'm underwhelmed by day 3 picks for the hawks specifically the corners of the bad Auburn team. Didnt feel like a BPA 3rd day. Guess I thought safety was a bigger need than the corner that gave up 4th and 30 to Bama Would have liked a shot at a qb but I guess they can still sign Pratt as an UDFA. Loved the first two picks tho

It sounds like the quality of this draft fell way off after round 3 and basically everyone was throwing darts after that. If that's the case I'd rather the Hawks take a chance on some high athleticism upside guys even if they're 90% to wash out.
