New Castle Brown
Directed by: Luke Greenfield
Starring: Elisha Cuthbert, James Remar, Timothy Olyphant, Sung Hi Lee

Really good movie about a Porn star that wants to start over. Not only do you get to watch a hot Elisha Cuthbert on screen for the duration of the movie, but you also get all the comments made by the character 'Eli' ie: "I just wanna bang hot chicks!" Some really funny quotes. It also has a romantic side to it but it is cool since it involves Elisha.

I went to the cinema with a friend after uni one day and with nothing better to do we both went to the cinema, and whilst I had been wanting to see it, it wouldn't have been my first choice it was the only film on at the time, so in I went not expecting too much but left thoroughly entertained, and despite not being a masterclass in acting (it's not bad, but it isn't exactly oscar material) it's entertaining and was definitely worth the money I spent on it.

Truly funny with a good script, a great film that suprised me, and thats unusual.

SUSHI ROULETTO!
College Slice
I thought it was terrible. Way, way too much plot, and almost completely devoid of cleverness. It seemed like every other line of dialogue was "Did you gently caress her?" "So you hosed her," or "I want to gently caress her." I don't mean that was the intent of the dialogue; I mean that WAS the dialogue, just people sitting around and talking about having sex in the absolute least interesting way possible. It also really liked to pull bait-and-switches on the audience for absolutely no reason except to pull a bait-and-switch and prove how drat cool a movie it was. But my biggest complaint is how they constantly referred to sex and talked about sex and every single thing was about sex, except that they treated the sex AS the plot and the joke and the gimmick all in one, without doing anything interesting with it.

Also, for the end, they suddenly make the movie all about friendship and joining together to help a friend and all that bullshit. I would have been a lot more likely to buy that if at ANY point during the preceding hour, the characters had made the slightest indication that they liked each other or had anything in common. You don't have to show them hugging and weeping to give the impression that on some level, three people enjoy each other's company. Freaks and Geeks boasted essentially the same characters, but you could pick any single scene from that show and get a stronger sense of their personalities and their friendship than you could in this whole movie.

The friend I saw it with agreed with me that it was one of those movies where you sit in the theatre, and stare at the screen, and stuff happens, and then more stuff happens, and then the credit rolls and you have no idea what you just watched because it was so disjointed and shallow and pointless. It sucks that that seems to be all that a lot of people want from their movies these days. (Not meant to be a jab at the other posters in this thread.) 1/5.

Oh man, look at my probe!
Disjointed is definitely a word that accurately describes this movie. I downloaded it instead of seeing it in the theater, and I was highly suspicious that the copy I got had random portions of the film missing every 10 minutes or so because there was no continuity. This movie didn't make a whole lot of sense. And none of the characters were even remotely believable, with the exception of the main character's friend the film kid. Basically every time something happened in the movie, I and the friends I watched it with did a double take and said "what? where the hell did that come from?"

The movie is kind of cute, and Elisha Cuthbert is in my opinion the most attractive female currently living, but it left me with a feeling of "why did I watch that?" There were some entertaining jokes and hijinks, but I think they were outweighed by all the nonsense and completely not believable crap that happened in this movie.

What the fuck does tuwhitt mean?
Decently funny throwback to the comedies of the 80s.

Being a huge fan of all kinda of 80s comedies (From the best of them to the worst of them), I enjoyed this film. Sure it's not the best, but it has its funny parts, and its got a lot more heart than most comedies lately.

...and then God said, "Let there be douche!"

It pissed me off for a few reasons:

1) I HATE it when movies do that thing where the main character is imagining an event and they show it to you, but wothout telling you it is a "dream"! Then five minutes later, something horribly shocking happens and they make that record skipping sound and go back to the real world. It pisses me off like no other and this movie did it throughout.

2) Totally unrealistic motivations and decisions. I can suspend my disbelief when watching movies. However ,a movie that attempts to be "real" had better be "real". The main character is a really smart kid (or so we assume since he gets into princeton or one of those fancy schools). However, he continually does the stupidest things throughout the movie. When the pimp busts into the classroom ,grabs him by the shirt, and drags him out, to his car, I said "No loving way". There is no way any of that poo poo would fly in any school ever.

Thus, I'm giving it a 2. It certainly wasn't godawful, but definitely not worth spending money on.

It was a little disjointed, and seemed to lack character development. A few funny jokes. Nothing special, nothing horrible. I wouldn't want to see it again, however.

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I 'knew' that this was a movie I needed to see, simply because the trailer, in my oppinion was so brilliantly created for what looked like a formulaic teen comedy.

So I saw it in the theaters and I came out of it feeling really good about the movie, having recently watched the DVD again, my feelings still stand.

So let me start out by saying that yes, a lot of movie wouldn't really happen in real life, some of the lessons while well-meaning come off trite (one of the characters finally overcoming his shyness because everyone finds out his dick is huge). But I'd argue, that all these and more have been in John Hughs classics and people were able to look past them, because there was an earnest and truthfulness to the way the emotions were showed on film.

And that's one thing this movie does shine in, is showing true emotion in fairly outlandish situations. It uses the porn backdrop as a setup for this perfectly, because so many movies are sold solely by their sex appeal, this movie takes that and runs with it for a little bit, setting up scenes and quickly showing them in a new light. One scene in particular, and I don't want to give it away, but when Matt finally takes the advice of his friend, and tries to have sex with the girl in a cheap motel, she knows exactly what's up from the get go, yet she doesn’t let on, and does a really hot display that makes both Matt and the audience uncomfortable because we know it shouldn't be happening, than turns this fairly steamy scene into a heartfelt emotional 'gently caress YOU MATTIE' as their innocence is broken.

Maybe I liked the movie just because I was able to identify with the characters 'not really doing much through his whole High School career' outlook from the outset of the movie, but I definitely recommend it, and if anything you do get to see some hot hot Elisha Cuthbert action. Also the soundtrack is amazing, and the movie was scored perfectly in my opinion.

Watched it recently and liked it a lot more than I thought it would. Eli was hilarious, same kinda lovely humor my friends and I use (I think thats a bad thing). I also enjoyed how the plot took you to a lot of different places. It seemed to go on forever, but in a good way. Like just when I thought it was over, I checked and there was still an hour left and I was like: COOL!

Also, the pimp was awesome, to a degree. He started off and I remember thinking: Coolest pimp character ever. Then he was kind of a dick, then he was cool again. Decent, funny movie, overall.

P.S. boobies

I just got finished watching this movie, and I thought it was great.

It was a cheesy movie and it started out dreadful, but the comedy in this movie is hilarious. The supporting characters are a riot, especially the main characters friend Eli (the director kid). I was very suprised by this movie, because I was just watching it because it had boobies in it, but I found myself laughing quite a bit and it was an overall enjoyable movie. Definitely not what I expected. Check it out.

The juice was worth the squeeze.

I was expecting a semi-lovely sub-American Pie teen comedy.

Instead I got a pretty sweet - but cheesy - little film.

The two supporting 'best friends' would probably remind a lot of the people reading this of themselves, I guess. I liked the way how being geeky was handled and how it hit home. For this alone, I'd recommend it to any goon.

You know how everyone of a certain age remembers 'Weird Science' for Kelly Le Brock? Well, in 20 years time people will still remember Elisha Cuthbert for this. Seriously. If this film does well on DVD it'll become a proper cult movie, I swear.

Wow, I thought I was going to be disappointed by this movie. I've been waiting to see it ever since the release of the trailer for it last year. The trailer was cut in a fresh and different way, and I, like many others, am a fan of Mrs. Cuthbert, So naturally I was drawn to the project.

First off, this isn't a Big unrated teen sex marathon with a pornstar, as the ads for the dvd would like you to believe. Its the story of a kid named Matthew Kidman, who's basically as late of a bloomer as you can get, socially minded, that is. I'm sure he hit puberty somewhere along the line already.

At the beginning of the film He struggles to think of a memory to write down for his senior quote page, but can't think of jack. He watches the jocks enviously as they parade off to the beach to hang out with their blonde babes. He's too busy trying to get into Georgetown college to be worried about spending some time with the boys and spending some intimate time with a member of the opposite sex.

Until Danielle moves next door.

This is where the movie takes off. Danielle is pretty much everything a guy could ask for. Shes smart, funny, and amazingly beautiful. And luckily for Matthew, she's single...

This movie made me think more about my life currently than any movie i've ever seen previously seen has. Perhaps it's because I'm trying as hard as I can to be with a girl who doesnt go batshit insane on me after the first date, maybe it's because i'm a junior in highschool and the "craziest thing i've done in a while" was to forceably grab a drunk chick's tit at a 'Gettogether' after she insisted on it for about ten minutes. (Thats all she wanted too, just wanted all the guys to grab her tits, then she left...) Theres just something about this movie that makes you feel good inside, and it manages to give you hope. (It especially gives hope to all those lonely geeks out there, in the form of a guy named, 'Klitz')

All of the character's are well portrayed in this movie, especially Timothy Olyphant as Kelly, just the way your feelings about him are constantly rotating around during the course of the film. Emile Hirsch also does a great job of showing the evolution of a semi zero to a semi hero.

All in all, this movie lets you head back to your highschool days if you've already passed that milestone in your life. And if you're knee deep in it right now, it gives you hope.

Hope, that maybe, just maybe, if you try as hard as you can, one day you can get a girl that's finally worth the squeeze.

PROS: One of the best Highschool / Teen Sex comedies I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. It's heartwarming, insightful, and it manages to evoke emotions other than the gag reflex. Compelled me to work on my relationships with women even more than previously.
CONS: Made me feel lonely. It's not nearly as much of a unrated sex romp comedy as the ads would like to make you believe. (Which I thought was a good thing, myself)

FUNFACT: Eli's character was inspired by CABIN FEVER director Eli Roth.

Memory can change the shape of a room; it can change the color of a car. And memories can be distorted. They're just an interpretation, they're not a record, and they're irrelevant if you have the facts.
Suprisingly well put together throwback to the teen movies of the eighties like Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds.

Aside from some overly enthusiastic songs on the soundtrack, a great film considering it's genre.

There were a lot of initial barriers that needed to be crossed to see this movie. For one, I'm just not too big on teen comedies. Second, a teen film about three wacky guys and a porn star just didn't seem to appeal to me. And third, there were a lot of other movies around that time that I actually did want to see.

Anyway, so I was bored at work, and decided to watch a movie. Having gotten the unrated DVD for a roommate, I decided "to hell with it" and watched it.

I was more than pleasantly surprised.

This movie is drat good.

It's not great by any means, and there were quite a few things that pissed me off about it, but for the most part, I really enjoyed it. Maybe it just had to do with having low expectations, but this movie just kicked my rear end and I am proud to declare myself initially wrong.

What was good:
1.) Obligatory OMG KIM BAUER IS HOT
2.) I could relate to the kids. While they were all mostly archetypes (the pothead nerd, the sex-crazed loudmouth, the jock) they all resonated with something realistic, and I really enjoyed that.
3.) Despite being about porn stars, the movie's message was really well done. This isn't a movie about teenagers loving whatever moves, it's about love and loss, and knowing what you want and going after it, something I can very well relate to. Moral fiber, if you will.
4.) Kelly was the coolest pimp/bad guy ever. There were many times when I wanted to kill him, but then he'd say his next line, and it was back to, "This guy kicks rear end."

What I didn't like:
1.) Obligatory OMG KIM BAUER DIDN'T GET NEKKID
2.) Why oh why do movies do the loving fake future/flashback sequences? This movie did it way too often. And while it was funny the first time, it really pissed me off at the end.
3.) There were times when I really started to hate the characters, but, well, see #2.

This is a very well done movie. I was very surprised and pleased with it.

All done running...
I thought this was one of the stupidest movies ever.

Where to begin? The horrible rip off semi-spoof that just failed over and over of 80's movies? The roaving band of seniors in trucks whos lines consisted only of "YAAAAAARRRRRGHHHHHHH!!!"? The lack of anything origional? The stupid sight gags that didn't work? The horrible acting? The bad writing?

God, it was just awful. The only thing I laughed at was my girlfriend and I making comments about how horrible things were, and predicting things line for line. This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, because usually I can apprciate bad movies on a cornball level. This one just sucked.

A half-dead thing in the stark, dead world, clean mad for the muck called gold
typical fare, really. Less sex than most of these teen movies, though (yes, really). Worth watching once: but the script was weak, the acting was similarly stale. I can't really point out any real highs or lows with the film. They make all the same mistakes when it comes to believability as all Hollywood films. A movie to watch when bored or hung over or in some similar state of mind, and it'll satisfy.

Craziest thing is to watch the girl who used to host Popular Mechanics For Kids play a "porn star". I mean, it doesn't seem that long ago that she was just a kid on Saturday morning TV. Child stars should never grow up because it's wierd.
