Shrek 2 is very funny. The problem is, a lot of it feels overdependent on our preceding knowledge of the characters. So the joke isn't 'ha-ha, nice gag', it's 'ha-ha, popular fairy-tale character performs pratfall'. Also, it's making fun of fairy tales without really subverting any fairy tale norms. Aside from that and the awful Ricky Martin song at the end, it's a pretty good movie. Three.
