The references were fun, and I didn't think they were too overdone. "Knights" was my favorite. The bag of catnip taken off of Puss in Boots... I laughed really drat hard at that. Considering they had to follow up a "happily ever after" ending with something, I thought they did a great job. Well-paced, good soundtrack, the animation looked great, and the voices were awesome.
