Directed by: Victor Fleming Starring: Judy Garland A movie milestone, due primarily to it being the introduction of color. However, what made it so important isn't even the most important reason to see it. Countless elements of this film, from plot points to lines to songs, have been worked into the fabric of American (western?) pop culture. Naturally there are flaws. There isn't much that people of our generation would find overtly entertaining, overacting abounds, and the actual story isn't anything to write home about. 4.5/5 for historical value and tons of innovation. RATING: 4.5 PROS: Ridiculous amount of historical value, from the first use of color to the plot to the songs CONS: Really corny by today's standards; songs stick in your brain; hammy acting ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032138/

This movie is an entirely different experience when you see it on film. The colors are so much richer, it's almost like a cartoon.

quote:Doodles came out of the closet to say: gonna have to disagree on that, the finest reason to own a pink floyd album is that most pink floyd albums are masterpieces of music. concerning the film, it's an enjoyable one...good subtext and meaning as well as very funny and entertaining. not one of the best films ever as many say it is, but still very very good. 4/5

Classic songs, gorgeous photography and design, and infinitely rewatchable. A classic for the ages. 5.5

This is the classic movie of movies. I'm not sure if it was Aristotle who came up with the Hero's Journey principle, but this movie followed it to the letter with style. Without this movie there would be no Star Wars, no Harry Potter, no Matrix. Okay, maybe there would have been, but it certainly paved the way. 5/5 from me, no Pink Floyf references needed.
