Directed by: Joel Schumacher Starring: Colin Farrell, Matthew Davis, Clifton Collins Jr. First off, I like war films, provided they are intelligent, and make a point. I first saw this when I was stationed in Iraq and I loved it. The feelings of dread and apprehension the recruits go through was very familiar to me. I loved the way that for once Hollywood was showing a different side of military life - the side where people don't want to "kill women and children" as Bozz says. The film is shot in varying styles for different parts of the film (to great effect, in my opinion.) I was amazed when I found out that Joel Schumacher directed this film, mainly as it is so different from his other works. Even if you didn't like Armageddon (fair enough) give this film a chance. The plot is great, especially in developing the main characters. I found myself caring, and hoping that they didn't pass out of basic training. I would reccommend this film to anyone who enjoys war films or is thinking about joining the military. I would give this 4.5. RATING: 4.5 PROS: Great acting, original plot, not war-porn. CONS: Farrell's irish accent occasionally slips through. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0170691
