Directed by: Steven Soderbergh Starring: Peter Fonda, Terence Stamp In this apparent sequel to the 60s British film Poor Cow, a recently released English convict travels to LA to find the man he thinks is responsible for his daughter's death. The film is edited in such a way that the viewer essentially knows what happens early on in the film, but it is this narrative structure that allows for interesting discourse on the memory of characters. Stamp plays a very convincing follow-up to his character in Poor Cow and is a calculating killer who appears to have no remorse. Luis Guzman is good as the semi-sidekick and comic relief, but Peter Fonda is really great cast as someone who sold the experimentation and freedom of the 60s to gain an empire. Also, the handheld camera gave the film a more gritty feeling which was pretty good. I usually consider Soderbergh a hit or miss director and this one was a hit, I feel. RATING: 4.5 PROS: Editing, narrative structure, Stamp's accent CONS: Predictable ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0165854
