Suicide doors are so-called because they can fly open while moving (and throw you out? I guess?) because they're hinged backwards. Wouldn't that make a regular hood a suicide hood?

The explanation I heard and have always "gone with" is... You park, open your driver's side suicide door, it juts out into the street and gets whacked by a passing vehicle while you're getting out and you get chopped in half by the door

Last year when I was looking for a used Evo 9 / STi the most annoying thing was how highly these people valued their cars when they had serious issues. That and people listing their bugeye WRX as a WRX STi just because they had an STi engine engine swap and some stickers on the front bumper.

A dealership here in the bay area paid my friend $4500 for a bugeye with a VERY BADLY blown motor... When I say "badly blown" I mean when idling it looked like the motor was trying to chuck itself out of the engine bay... At least 3" of hobby-horsing up and down... Absolutely insane.

I am entertaining offers for my beloved 91 MR2 turbo. I guarantee there's not another MR2 like this one on Earth. If you just want a stock MR2 it would be cheaper to go buy someone else's.

The body-work is one of a kind. I did it all myself, welding in steel plates and using fiberglass. I get tons of comments on the body. I've had police officers stop to take pictures and lunatics swing their doors open while driving by just to yell how much they love it. Park it next to a Ferrari and more people will stare at my car just trying to figure out what the hell it is.

Mechanically the car is in great shape, especially considering it's 23 years old.

List of modifications: (probably forgetting a few things)

Fuel Cut system completely disabled
Manual Boost controller currently set at 16 PSI (lots of fun set at 20)
EGR System removed
CATs removed
Entire ABS system removed
Power Steering bypassed
Air bag disabled
Computer removed from trunk, relocated behind drivers seat
Custom made beach umbrella mount (clicks into driver side seat belt and straps to T-bar) (intended for parking not driving)
Mack Truck Air horn
Very large air tank
Air powered washer-fluid tank
Boost and Oil Pressure Gauges added
HKS turbo timer
After-market header and downpipe
New dual core radiator
Genuine Harley Davidson Headlights
Custom made trailer hitch, much tougher than the turd you can buy for it.

The head was rebuilt by Cylinder Head Depot less than a year ago. Replaced all the timing idler's while I was at it.

Replaced all the vacuum lines and intercooler hoses.

Things I haven't gotten around to fixing:
Gas Gauge doesn't work. Gauge is fine, sending unit is bad.
Speedometer does not work. The cable snapped, I replaced it and it snapped again. You would have to replace the little gear driven doo-hickey on-top of the transmission that drives the speedo cable.
Recently started to vary the idle speed. Pretty sure it's the Throttle Posisition sensor, just haven't gotten around to replacing it. Still runs and drives great just idles anywhere between 750rpms and 1,000.

Odometer reads 170something thousand, not sure what's actually on it with a broken speedo cable.

The wheels are off an early 90's Mazda RX-7 with taller wider tires on the back.

This car has been my baby for over 6 years. I've never let a mechanic touch this car, I do all my own work. Dropping off the head at Cylinder head Depot to be rebuilt is the only work I've let anyone else do to it.

I'm in no rush to sell this car and probably won't. Just entertaining offers right now. I might consider a trade involving a street legal sand rail but it would have to be a kick-A** one.

I will not even bother responding to low offers, don't waste your time, or mine.

I don't check my email very often so it may take up to 24hrs to hear back from me.

oops forgot the link in case anyone wants to make an offer for him to entertain:

95 (*might* be pre-obdII(?)) GST with probably earth-to-moon-and-back mileage and a missing sunroof, likely thrashed interior, expired tags but im sure you could lowball it down to being a decent pickup as a project car

only if it has a clean title

<edit> the response to "how many miles": 172k

Eh, 4k is a bit steep for a drift car with 250k miles. Things I see:

-Front bumper not colour matched, probably a replacement ebay bumper due to MAD DRIFTS
-One of those terrible "JDM BRAH" mushroom intakes
-Fixed back seat with improperly routed 3pt (at least loop it through the harness hole FFS)
-Airbag wheel removed (potential inspection issue depending on where you live)
-Bargain basement coilovers ($700 barely buys good SHOCKS, let alone coilovers)
-Welded 3.91 (welding awful for street car, 3.91 ridiculously high for the highway)
-Trunk looks like it isn't closing right
-Pointless rear seat delete (can be undone if he kept the stuff)

If it's the original motor and you want to keep it for awhile, expect the headgasket to go. M5x motors tend to eat them above 200k. Inspect the rear subframe mounts for tears (common problem when used for autox/track/drifting).

If you're from california you should be able to buy less molested 328s with half the mileage for 4-5k.

Yikes

I didn't look at the interior at all, you're right.

highly dubious horsepower claims, calculated in this way:

ram air intake = +10hp
k+n racing filter = +30hp
supercharger= +100hp

= 265hp 1.9l 4 banger

oh and, apparently if you decide to move up to the 10psi pulley, you'll bring the torque from 225 up to "351 lbs"

plus odometer fraud

all yours for a buy it now price of $15,900
