We should all pitch in to buy the car, and get it acid dipped.

if 100 people each pitch in 10 bucks, we should each get to leave with a pound of datsun.

Probably so he could drive to the next store that sells ice to buy another bag of ice without overheating.

Flax water/ice bags let water slowly evaporate through the walls of the bag, cooling the radiator like a swamp cooler, so you can drive your family through the desert to see the Grand Canyon in your '56 Buick with its unpressurized cooling system.

The fact that it has made it a decade means they probably didn't screw up that rebuild. Some guy on steelsoldiers bought a new rebuilt lds465 at auction and tore it down to double check their work... none of the rod fasteners were torqued and the mains were hosed and hadn't been replaced, iirc.

Buy it!

You could use the inline 6 crossmember to put in a 4.0l with fuel injection, find a v8 cross member to put in an AMC motor since they originally came with a 304 so the 360/390/401 will use the same motor mounts, or just LS swap it.

Actually the original grille the stylists came up with was quite slim, pretty much just a vertical slit, but management demanded the stylists widen it dramatically due to concerns about overheating; the resultant front of the Edsels have been compared to toilet seats, horse yokes, and vaginas.

1998 dodge durango "Serious Beater/ Parts edition" - $600

Like posting title says...we have available at this time, one 1998 dodge Durango. it just rolled a hard 390, some odd thousand miles...says 320, some odd thousand miles... the "9" did not even light up on the odometer, as I watched it roll over to the reluctant 390,000 mile figure..lol
any how she starts and runs...been clicking the starter repeatedly at times, in order to get the engine to roll over, it always works, but starter is junk.. way needed replaced.. she does start well other than that. don't get me wrong, she pretty much had it...4wd seems to function well, but driver side cv shaft is sheared, and the shock is also broke off. she eats tires fairly swiftly and has lil bit of a wandering problem. I drive daily on back roads, but it isn't the safest means of transportation. the brakes seem to work well.. cooling system, power steer works well.. ac is gone...heater all that works well.. has 5 good matching aluminum dodge stock wheels. tires are not very good at all.. rear end seems to be solid.. does have all the seating, interior pretty thrashed. cd player is crummy, but works...it has the magnum V8, though like I said she has hard 390,000...I rev the twang out of the old thing and she sounds just fine...she surely needs rebuilt soon.. It does have terrible exhaust, it needs studs replaced on manifolds, has terrible exhaust leak.. the trans is probably the best thing in the old girl...it was rebuilt about three years ago, overdrive works well, pulls through gears, shifts real well.. its body is fairly wasted, it isn't all smashed in really, more rusted like crazy. does not have a front bumper, it was smashed years ago and removed..the glass is all good, goes up and down all proper. if you could be interested, I will be moving this swamp buggy/ parts wagon any day now...if it could be for you this is your opportunity, I will give you title and keys for $600 cash.. Im not really suggesting anyone buy this truck to drive any farther really, but $600, jump terraces if you like..lol other wise I will cut what metal I can use from it and will put through the crusher if nothing else very soon.. Interested parties email me swiftly, I monitor and will respond at times right away..

Quoting myself to update, I went and saw this today. The guy drove it to the meeting place on the freeway, so apparently it can handle that just fine. I just drove it around the lot, since he just told me and my wife to get in and test it out, I didn't want to go too far.

Took some pictures:

Overall it seemed quite clean, rust-free as far as I could tell, and pretty fun to drive. Brakes were squishy. That and a squeak when you turned hard right were the only things I could find wrong. My wife thinks it's cute :v:

But a kit car... ehhhhhhh. Feels a bit dishonest, and of course being built on a 74 Mustang it just doesn't look quite right.

That wiring job looks a bit shady, but I've seen much worse. The Ford 2.8 is not a great motor, and it only makes about a hundred horses.

All that said, I'd drive the hell out of it.

Yeah the best I could say about the wiring is "well, at least everything's easily accessible".

Motor felt reasonably peppy since the only thing on the frame was a bunch of fiberglass and my fat rear end.

Yeah thats the only big thing I saw was that scary wiring. If you felt really ambitious im sure you could plunk in a low hp 289 v8. Squishy brakes just take some time and a little bit of know how.

It does look fun.

Yeah I've been trying to mentally compare it safety-wise to other 1970s convertibles... I think it might beat a Beetle in a head-on? But would murder you in a side collision?

Edit: who am I kidding it's pretty much sure to explode into fiberglass splinters as my burning body launches into oncoming traffic, still laughing maniacally

As someone who spent a good chunk of ages 10-14 or so in the back of a fourthgen, you can very much fit kids back there. They just won't be happy about it / will have their knees in your spine :v:

And that's definitely an odd paint choice... but it still looks better than most early fourthgens because by now most of them have some pretty poo poo paint.
