We should all pitch in to buy the car, and get it acid dipped. if 100 people each pitch in 10 bucks, we should each get to leave with a pound of datsun.

Gone through a decade ago (2004) by a military depot (I'm in the military, that doesn't mean anything except they maybe followed a manual if they weren't too drunk, and changed fluids). Sounds like a keeper.

Someone needs to get that. So we can all make toilet seat jokes at them. At the car show they had near my house last weekend, someone had an Edsel: (no, I have no idea why the owner had a bag of ice hanging over the front vulva)

Flax water/ice bags let water slowly evaporate through the walls of the bag, cooling the radiator like a swamp cooler, so you can drive your family through the desert to see the Grand Canyon in your '56 Buick with its unpressurized cooling system.

Sounds like a keeper. The fact that it has made it a decade means they probably didn't screw up that rebuild. Some guy on steelsoldiers bought a new rebuilt lds465 at auction and tore it down to double check their work... none of the rod fasteners were torqued and the mains were hosed and hadn't been replaced, iirc.

You could use the inline 6 crossmember to put in a 4.0l with fuel injection, find a v8 cross member to put in an AMC motor since they originally came with a 304 so the 360/390/401 will use the same motor mounts, or just LS swap it. Bibendum posted:I thought it was supposed to be a feedbag. Apparently the grill is meant to be shaped like a halter or whatever you call the thing that attaches a horse to a buggy. Actually the original grille the stylists came up with was quite slim, pretty much just a vertical slit, but management demanded the stylists widen it dramatically due to concerns about overheating; the resultant front of the Edsels have been compared to toilet seats, horse yokes, and vaginas.

The guy drove it to the meeting place on the freeway, so apparently it can handle that just fine. I just drove it around the lot, since he just told me and my wife to get in and test it out, I didn't want to go too far. Took some pictures: Overall it seemed quite clean, rust-free as far as I could tell, and pretty fun to drive. Brakes were squishy. That and a squeak when you turned hard right were the only things I could find wrong. My wife thinks it's cute But a kit car... ehhhhhhh. Feels a bit dishonest, and of course being built on a 74 Mustang it just doesn't look quite right.

That wiring job looks a bit shady, but I've seen much worse. The Ford 2.8 is not a great motor, and it only makes about a hundred horses. All that said, I'd drive the hell out of it.

Yeah the best I could say about the wiring is "well, at least everything's easily accessible". Motor felt reasonably peppy since the only thing on the frame was a bunch of fiberglass and my fat rear end.

Yeah thats the only big thing I saw was that scary wiring. If you felt really ambitious im sure you could plunk in a low hp 289 v8. Squishy brakes just take some time and a little bit of know how. It does look fun.
