Internet access was essentially decribed as a basic human right by the United Nations and it's already seen as such in several countries. It also looks bad for the usual reasons, what with being blanket censorship and looking like a blatant effort to hide news of atrocities. When neutrals/supporters suddenly can't get to their email, or YouTube, or whatever, you're not doing much to quell the masses.

It is also the equivalent of economic suicide. The internet is so ingrained that it is basically required for regular economic activity to happen on anything but the smallest scales.

He is not a medical professional, right? That seems all sorts of negligent.

No, but he appeared to know enough to act as a combat medic in Libya.

The moral of the story is the military can get away with the coup as long as it supports US interests.

This is unfortunately nothing new and fits perfectly with our historical record.

Iraq was pretty clearly not really about chemical weapons at all, and we've done gently caress all about states accused of having nuclear and biological weapons, despite repeatedly threatening them to no avail, so executing Saddam doesn't quite send the message you think it does.

The only message we have really been consistent on is "get nukes and we will not invade your country."

I bet Kerry feels like a total rear end in a top hat now. He makes some random comment and Putin jumps on it and turns it around masterfully.

On the bright side maybe we don't have to stick our dick in a hornets nest in order to save face. If we are lucky the CW might actually get taken out of the picture which is pretty good for everyone. Well everyone except for the Syrians but they have been rather screwed since this whole thing started.

I'll take diplomacy by accident if that's the best we can manage.

He couldn't even keep separate departments hammering home a consistent message.

Obama is kind of bad at this whole foreign policy thing. However if he can keep from randomly invading and blowing people up I'll consider it a win.
