So if mybitcoin is a scam, this is essentially a ploy to stall for more time (why would the scammer need time though?) If mybitcoin is legitimate, then they would be having a hard giving back stolen bitcoins, like what's been said before. I don't know if they can sell what's left of the website (the hardware I guess) to make it up to the bitcoiners. It's also gonna lose revenue because people won't trust it either. Doesn't look like there's a way for people like Bruce ,who have such a large share of their coins in mybitcoin, to walk away from this and keep a significant portion of their bitcoins.
