TA is a classic example of a character who is cheaply hyped up by coming in during the 3rd act and taking out all the other characters shown to be tough up to that point. The other two HF exclusive enemies are like that too, but TA is the worst.
TA is actually shown to be pretty weak. He mostly gets by by being a cunning little bastard.

Yeah, but the difference is him not being ready at all for the clusterfuck is the point of his character. And he's not some HERO OF JUSTICE or anything, he's just sorta arrogant and burned by his teacher.

The best part of Carnival Phantasm is the Alleyway Alliance. It is my greatest lamentation in life that I can't find any way of getting their pose animation to fit SA avatar restrictions.

But yeah, that first episode was really good, especially for something that was 99% set-up.

The game thing is kinda wonky but does it seriously ruin the show to you?

EDIT: And yeah, Rin explicitly states that the stats thing is just a way of making things simple for the person reading the book thing that shows them. Shirou's a nerd, and most people reading the VN probably understand RPG stats, so that's the way things go.

Absolutely none of the RPG stuff comes up in Fate/Zero, yeah. The classes are literally the only thing, and while it's kinda wonky if you think about it for too long it at least makes sense in-universe.

This will be one of the very few times I spoil the novel. Very minor, inconsequential spoilers.

It does in one scene. It's mentioned extremely briefly as a method to compare the strength of one Noble Phantasm to another.
Which is basically how it's used in F/SN, too, just with a menu you can go into at any time for that sort of comparison.

You might as well lower your expectations because Waver Velvet is a dumb name.

Can you really blame me for jumping to conclusions?
It said "the protagonist," as in the protagonist is a goofy nerd who sees it that way. You pretty much jumped to conclusions for no real reason. Waver and Rider won't be going to the item world, and I don't recall Kirei and Assassin having an indepth discussion on equipping light resist equipment to deal with Saber. Expecting them to just because of a goofy sidenote thing in the VN is silly.

Just so you guys know, power level debates are basically the same as the guys on the Gamefaqs board asking who'd win in a fight, Goku or Superman. There's far more interesting things to discuss than hypothetical fights between anime characters.

Yeah, I've always kind of liked Zouken. I can see where the people who thought he was uninteresting in F/SN were coming from, but iunno, he had clear motives, a weird sort of old-man charisma, and Got poo poo Done. Way more than you could say for, say, Shinji.

Except it's not the same punchline? Not that I can tell, anyway.

Also Carnival Phantasm overdid some jokes (The Volleyball episode was kind of awful, save for Len's castle in the background) but stuff like the Holy Grail Game Show made up for it.

You probably got it confused with Zelretch's Sword of Plot Convenience.

And Fate/Extra plays like Persona in a lot of ways, but the combat is pretty much glorified Rock Paper Scissors. It's a fun little diversion, even if I barely understood what was going on due to my Japanese skills being non-existent, but I'd only buy it if you really love Type-Moon stuff, and with the knowledge that you're playing it for the story and not the gameplay.

F/UC is a fighting game. It's not an overly good one, in terms of playing in competitively or looking at it objectively, but pretty much every character in the game is completely broken if you know how to do combos, meaning it's great to goof around with in practice mode, or with friends.

Basically, it's a decent fighter but the world's best training mode.

Well, I imagine everyone in the war (except Mr. Killing Is Just a Fun Game, mostly because I don't think he knows that there's a war at all) knows Kiritsugu is in it, because he's being supported by the Einzberns, and is also the Magus Killer.

I'm guessing the writers did it for dramatic effect, but that doesn't mesh with Kiritsugu's methods.
Timing his attack with Maiya's on Assassin, yeah. If he went before Maiya, Assasin would have went for him, and if Maiya went before him, Kayneth would have realized there were snipers about.

So "Come save me!" results in teleportation, but something like "Win the Grail War" would basically result in no bonus whatsoever.
