If your friends have tight privacy settings, Haxsync can't update their picture. You have to remove your Haxsync account and log back in to force an update. The developer said he is working on a fix.

A Pinball Wizard posted:Does anyone know of an app that will set off a notification every hour? It doesn't need to do anything else, just make a sound at the top of the hour. A Pinball Wizard posted:Is there a good guide to tasker somewhere? I can get as far as "fire off a notification when time equal to" but I can't figure out how to set it off every hour, let alone find a way to toggle it when I go into and out of work (I work at different times on different days, or else I'd just use an hourly chime app off the marketplace). Contexts: 1) Time, 0000-2300, repeat every 1 hour 2) State-Variable-Variable Value: %WORK = on Task: Media, Music Play (file) You'll then have to set up a profile that sets the WORK variable to "on" when you get to work and off when you leave. If you have a specific work wifi you connect to can create a task that sets the variable WORK to "on" when you get to connect to that wifi and off when you disconnect. Or you can set it up to detect when you are at your work location. Or you can set up a manual toggle widget on your desktop. az jan jananam fucked around with this message at 23:37 on Mar 18, 2012 |

I use the default app next to the phone on the taskbar. I set it to sync with facebook but it turns out having all of your facebook friends appear under your contacts is just plain irritating. At the moment I have it set to 'Remove Facebook data' under the Contacts Sync page on the facebook app. Using 'Sync with existing contacts' doesn't seem to do anything which is annoying, and when I use the remove all data option and then try and link a contact to their facebook account, their account doesn't show up? Am I just being an idiot or should I be using a different contacts app? I don't know how Facebook sync works on your phone but its had problems with ICS, you might look into an app like HaxSync or use another facebook sync solution. az jan jananam fucked around with this message at 17:57 on Jun 15, 2012 |

If you are on a newer phone or tablet and want higher resolution contact pictures you can check out this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.contactphotosupdater The donate version has an option to double the default ICS contact picture resolution (needs root). It can pull pictures off of Facebook though I've been using the semi automated process of using a source image folder with images named for a contact. The difference is obviously striking.

This isn't an app, but another way to get a weather forecast without an app that I found. If you go to Weather Underground and copy the link address for "Download iCal" (the blue arrow next to the RSS icon) you can add that iCal to Google Calendar (add by URL). It'll show up on your calendar widgets, etc with no other app needed.
