First thing to do is definitely hit those note boards, there's one in the pawn guild and one in the inn, both pretty easy to find. You can take a bunch of <kill x of y> quests that will stay active while you're running around and killin' and such.
There is also another board in the alehouse with escort quests.

It's just a few basic weapons that are pre-upgraded to level 2. The iron sword lasted me until level 13ish and I found a better weapon.

So I've finally gotten around to Trials and Tribulations. I've got three innocent petitions so far, and I hear there's a soldier up at Windbluff who can be of help. Since I saved the family from being thrown out, they won't even give me guilty petitions. I did some escorts at the start of the game that I'm pretty sure put evidence in the guilty category, but I've read other people simply turning in the three petitions and the Windbluff witness and getting innocent. I've also heard you can get false affidavits from Reynald, but therein I have a problem: Reynald has left my game since I finished his quest.

Am I going to miss his affidavits or can I do it with the petitions and witness?

You should Reynard is gone? When I did the quest he was in the Encampment, you get quest markers for all of the affidavit locations.

Is there a way to restore rotten consumables to their fresh state? I read that you could do that somehow with healing springs, because I cannot get any ambrosial steaks to drop from oxen but I've found a couple rotten ones here and there. But I can't combine the rotten meat or spring water with anything, and standing in the spring for a while didn't restore the meat. Did I just misread something? I really don't want to have to grind oxen here. I've given up on that ridiculous quest to get 5 kept sour ambrosial steaks, but I need the one for Farewell, Valmiro which I didn't do on my first run.
First use combine rotten item with an airtight flask, then combine the kept rotten item with a flask of spring water.

However... kept items don't rot, so you can't get kept sour ambrosial meat from this.

They gain a lot of Strength when they level, so you can do a huge amount of sword damage. Intimate Gambit does good damage, stuns an enemy, and brings it towards you so you can follow up with some more strikes, or another Intimate Gambit.

Gouge, which you don't get until level 7 or something deals huge damage against climbable monsters, and Dire Gouge at level 9 deals even more.

I don't really use most of the night Augments, but I tear poo poo up with a sword and bow.
Yeah, I went back to assassin simply because of the dire gouge and climbing, those later monsters just love to knock you off your feet if you stand near them. They can't do that as well if I'm on their face.

Also, for (late-game monsters) wyrms and drakes, I found that you can climb on top of their neck and dire gouge through it to hit their heart :hist101: (At least with an Ascalon).

Skip level three and go for dragonforging them with an online Ur-Dragon kill? It means you'll have to wait for a functioning grace period Ur-Dragon kill (and be on at the right time) but it's better than that grinding.

Everyone should try the game as max/min height characters. I imagine it leads to a lot of pretty funny cutscenes.

For example, when you first go back to Cassardis and that cult guy gives you his creepy speech, the camera cut to my 200cm warrior looking down with a disturbed expression on her face, the top of the guy's hood barely in frame.
There are a bunch of cutscenes that bug out by having a max height character, I've had a bunch where the camera was clipping through my character's back so I couldn't see anything.
