Just pack her with whatever you want to bring along, then tell her to wait at the fountain/caravan, done! Also, can we post weird/creepy but still good mods here? UglyDucklett posted:Sounds to me like it matches the thread title perfectly. Shoot! All right then, here we go: Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you direct from the land of the baguette, 16 Cygni, a mod for Neverwinter Nights 2! Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 First off, the bad news: This mod has nudity. A looot of nudity- hell, one wrong turn in the prologue gets you a roomful of it (you walk into the ladies' bathroom). Another part later on in the game has you visit a Japanese hot spring- boobs and dongs for everyone! Trust me, you won't know whether to be skeeved out or clap in shocked admiration for how few fucks the modder gives when it comes to covering up. Wait, did I say few fucks? I meant lots of fucks, because true to the fine tradition set by Bioware, you get to sex up a lot of people- and it is rather hilarious, because the sex is thankfully not animated. Instead, you cut away to some scenery, while a dialogue option reading pre:1. ...mmmmmmmmm... But honestly though, it's one of the most fun mods I've ever played- and not in that way, you pervs. The storyline is that you're an officer of some interstellar government (though one with Elves, Tieflings, Dwarves etc.) stranded on a primitive-seeming planet filled with all the races you're familiar with, but under different names. There's evidence of extremely advanced technology, mind control and active technological retardation going on. Basically, someone wants to keep the planet in technological stasis, and you have to find out why. It's really good, with plenty of intrigue and good twists and turns, and I don't want to go on for spoilers. That being said, it does railroad you, so if you're not into that, skip it. Another element that I like (and I wish came up in other games) is that while your party members have their own unique personalities and whatnot, their starting classes are determined by your dialogue. For example, take this paraphrased conversation between your character and a Dwarven king wanting to lend you aid: pre:King: My main man will accompany you, and his fighting style's... drat, I can't seem to find the words. You: 1: A berserker? 2: A finesse fighter? 3: A regular infantryman? tl;dr, Cygni 16's a good mod for Neverwinter Nights 2 if you don't mind pixelated nudity, hilarious no-sex scenes and slightly dodgy French-English translation. I could get screenshots, but you'd have to wait until I get home for that. EDIT: Fixed table-breaking. Also, this is way too many words for a weird French elfgame mod CommissarMega fucked around with this message at 06:01 on Oct 31, 2012 |

Speaking of NWN2 my favorite was this mod that I forget the name of, but it fixed a ton of bugs. Then the mod creator goes and changes the sex of the romance options. He didnt even make them all bisexual which might have been understandable, he made the female love interest go after female PCs and the males after a male PC. Presumably so he could play a female PC and have it not be gay. The romance options in NWN2 are really limited and don't go anywhere anyway because Avellone really doesnt like the "Bioware romance" so it was an even more bizarre choice.

Casimir Radon posted:The KOTOR 2 restoration mod fall more into the category of terrible people behind the mod, though not the one that eventually got released. Dashus's response to criticism was to simply change the way progress updates were shown, always in a way that made it look like the project was close to release. What started as frequent blog posts by different team members soon became a static page showing progress bars for each section that needed restored (and most of the bars were full!). After that stayed up for about a year, and the bars stopped moving, he deleted that page and just made the bug tracker public (and most of the bugs were listed as fixed!). When it became clear that only one other modder remained on the project aside from Dashus (who was doing very little work) the bug tracker was made private again, but a closed beta was announced. The beta invites just happened to go out to the aforementioned group of forum posters, who were quick to talk about how awesome the mod was. At one point, a trailer was made, mentioning a 2007 release date that came and went. Even more time passed (I think by this time it was about '08 or '09, about five years after work started on the mod) and frustration was continuing to build. It was clear Dashus was the only person left working on the mod, and he continuously refused offers of help from other modders in the community (it would just halt progress while he brought them up to speed, you see). About that time, one of the beta testers leaked the current build and started up a shitstorm of drama on the forum. The leaked beta showed that, while they had gotten most of the content restored, there was still a crazy number of crippling bugs to deal with. In addition, any content that wasn't specifically pulled from the files on the disk (such as new combat encounters or dialogue options for the PC) were laughably amateurish. Dashus had a breakdown, kept claiming it was an outdated build, and basically stuck with the line, "I'm still working on it and it'll be fantastic when it's done, you'll see!" It all came to an end in about the best possible way, though, when another team of modders just came out of nowhere and released a working Restoration mod, built from the ground up, that did everything the Team Gizka mod was supposed to do and more. No fanfare, no drama, just an announcement and a download link. Dashus freaked out again, stated that he was still going to release his superior mod, but work was going slow because he had a girlfriend now and none of you nerds would understand what that meant. By this time he had lost most of his defenders, and the Team-Gizka website quietly went out of existence at some point thereafter. The released Restoration mod continues to be updated to this day, and is a fantastic mod that breaths new life into one of my favorite RPGs. RagnarokAngel posted:Speaking of NWN2 my favorite was this mod that I forget the name of, but it fixed a ton of bugs. Then the mod creator goes and changes the sex of the romance options. He didnt even make them all bisexual which might have been understandable, he made the female love interest go after female PCs and the males after a male PC. Presumably so he could play a female PC and have it not be gay. That wasn't the only bizarre change, he also decided to make it so that a temporary companion who is supposed to die in the tutorial remains alive. She has no further dialogue or anything else to add to the game besides standing around and breaking scripts. He also seems to have a weirdly personal vendetta against Obsidian, and spends most of the changelog talking about how stupid they are. Luckily, someone made a plot fixes fixes mod that keeps all of the good stuff, but removes the unnecessary 'improvements' and homophobia. I believe it was made by someone from this forum and is available for download in the current NWN thread. Jokymi fucked around with this message at 07:55 on Oct 31, 2012 |
