Watch out for a new thread, Extra Stout will probably make it. This is info from 2006-Aug 2015 for LOTRO. The new thread will be post-Aug 2015 to chronicle Gondor/Mordor and the eventual end of the game. The Lord of the Rings Online Official Site: http://www.lotro.com/ The Lord of The Rings Online (LOTRO) is a formerly paid and now (mostly) Free to Play MMO set in the world of Middle Earth, developed by Turbine Inc (Dungeons and Dragons Online, Asheron's Call). LOTRO is a full featured MMO, not the barebones experence you'd expect from other F2P MMO's. Goons are playing on the Silverlode server as The Nazgun. We will probably be going to Landroval or Gladden when the server mergers complete. Stay Tuned. Kin Rules copied from nazgun forums: Ok so we're all goons here, but the reality of the world is that at times people don't know where the line between acceptable and unacceptable occurs. To that end: 1. Mod sass - lighthearted is acceptable, mean spirited and intentional is not acceptable. 2. Bullying/Annoyance Factor - those who are consistently too goony are going to be warned they are stepping over the line. Those who don't realize they are being an asshat will be booted. 3. General Fuckery - don't screw over other goons or generally make the Nazgun name infamous - a lot of us actually play with other people outside the kin from time to time and would like to continue doing so. 4. Officers are chosen because they have shown themselves reliable and generally trustworthy, part of their responsibility is to take care of concerns and to help police issues that need to be addressed. Spergin in front of an officer will most likely get you booted, please be aware. That being said...being moderately goony is quite hilarious and why many of us stay in Nazgun instead of going elsewhere. The in-game chat and entertainment really make this game what it is and hopefully will continue to do so. Just remember that we are all a bunch of human beings that are playing a game for fun. Hoboknife posted:
We have a steam group to message people when out of the game, search for 'TheNazgun' on steam - this is a great way to reach people out of game when we need extras on to run instances. If you need help or have other questions: in game do a "/who nazgun" and change the max level to 100 on the search dialog that appears. Then send a message to any of those players. Not nearly as much of an issue once you're +65 and killing them in packs of ten or more.. The higher kill deeds are usually gained by going on raids or completing the daily tasks for places like hybolt.

Part of the issue you might be experiencing is that there is no weapon/skill speed in this game. The attacks take place in cycles and might be a bit 'off' from what you're used to. After a while you'll get the hang of it. Play a class like minstrel or rk and you'll really get a lot of practice at it.

Hunters are just that easy..that's why there are so many tard hunters, because they get complacent and when they get to raids they still think herp derp shoot bow without actually thinking about raid mechanics.

Rarity posted:Ah, thanks. I like to think I woulda remembered to wait for the tank to grab aggro, but in truth I probably wouldn't. Most hunters don't... or they think that 2 sec is plenty of time for agro control.. The larger mobs on raids usually take about 15-30 sec to take down and you can always tell a hunter burning hot because the mob starts running right for them. It's an issue of learning agro control but since most hunters solo all the time, they never spend time learning it.

There is a steam group that we use to contact people outside of the game...search for thenazgun and you should find it. Vent it used mostly for when we are doing raids and since we haven't been raiding much recently not much need for it. If people want to start running instances, then that would probably change. I put the vent info up in the OP in case anyone wanted to use it. In game chat is different. A lot of players are usually off doing their own thing, but the other thing to keep in mind is that in many cases I've noticed people complaining of there being no chat going yet are being just as anti-social as others on there. You have to make the effort yourself if you want to see chat going. Everytime I sign on I start throwing things in chat to see what kind of discussions popup, also because without it I'd be bored in LOTRO. Last night was a good conversation about genocide, racism, bob saget, and a few other things. You just have to be willing to start talking and others will typically join in.

AskYourself posted:- Evendim was in the original game, it did get a very nice revamp since then. Evendim was actually not in the original game, it was added on afterwards as an additional zone. The map used to stop just before Oatbarton in the south and at fornost in the east. Also for anyone in the 32-35 range, running the Garth Agarwen instance gets you Eglain tokens that can be traded in for some pretty good teal gear for that level. Especially guard shield and bow. This is one of the instances everyone should run around that level. Yet people seem to skip it thinking it's not worth the time...it really is. Probably one of my favorite instances in the whole game. If you can't get a group, just ask an 85 to solo it for you.

For a generic dungeon group I'd say: 1 Tank - Guard or Warden (a good one) 1 OT - Champ or Capt 1 Healer - Minst or RK 1 DPS - RK or Hunter 1 Support - Capt or Burg or LM 1 Fill in based on dungeon (extra cc, dps, etc) There are multiple classes that can fill different roles based on how they are specced. A lot of it is how you play the game. I've run a dungeon with 1 tank and 5 minsts and raped it. Sometimes you just have to go with what you got...

They are saying that you will still want to run all the instances, however each instance will drop a single slot of gear (neck, legs, etc) for that class. So if you want the pants you have to run X if you want the neck run Y, etc.. This won't be a big issue.

I still wish they would have something through the store to make LI's easier to develop. Instead of scrolls that only give you a tier 2 legacy that you have to work up to level 6 (though more scrolls or ridiculous amounts of grinding), just have scrolls that up the level and age of the item in question so you can actually grow something instead of having to throw it away each time an expansion comes out. I've got a lvl 65 2nd age minst book with awesome legacies on it but it would take forever and a half to get that setup again. If I could just level it up to 85 and up the age to a 1st age instead of trying to burn through dozens of attempts just to get back on par with before. It's really killed the idea of working up LI's in my mind. The costs in time, gold, and tp just isn't worth it. Unless you manage to get lucky enough to hit a really good one off the bat.
