Believe it or not, I actually haven't saw how this game played before. It actually looks pretty fun and seems to be on par with SMB3 in terms of quality despite being on the Game Boy.

It looks okay but it feels really janky and the hitboxes are inconsistent and misleading.

So by making the main character a girl instead of a boy, that can maybe possibly make them change other gameplay stuff that will actually shake up the series? Then you use an example of a game that kept link a boy and just shook up the series by changing gameplay stuff?

Watching you guys be awful at YI is worse than watching you be awful at any other game and I don't know why. Tongue up! Hover! Shoot eggs at things! Try things!

This is one of the best platformers of all time and it's generally super intuitive and there's help boxes scattered everywhere and it hurts to watch but of course I'm going to keep on watching and yelling at my screen regardless.

Keep it up!

The game is insanely cool and a lot of fun if you have one ounce of desire to explore in your body, but the baby crying is also super annoying and it would be okay if it wasn't in there.

It came up earlier (or was it in another thread?) that some the play tester would lose mario and then just keep going. Until they added the audio cue some of the play tester had no idea why they were dieing.

You'd think Kyle would be better at the game after all the playtesting he did, then.

Seven Stars was the best Mario RPG by far and all of the others are garbage in comparison.

Depends on what you mean by "doing well". He did do a good job at getting through levels, but when you watch you can clearly see that 1. They aren't paying attention and 2. They aren't giving a poo poo about collecting things. I tried watching the actual video and you get frustrated at them not picking up things in plain sight, or not trying to get to the side areas. Watching them win the level, though, beats out watching 20 minutes of the same level because they aren't paying attention to the obvious puzzle solutions.

They long since went over why they're not bothering with collectibles, though (because they have so many loving games to play, they can't afford to spend ten years on one)

I look forward to a different main Mario game, but I don't think I can handle listening to the "Falco got dealt a critical hit in Melee" sound that plays every time a box is opened in Mario 64. How often do you open boxes in Mario 64?

While I do think that this LP made Yoshi's Island look like more of a slog than it is (and I should clarify here that I totally get that Kyle and Keith are smart people, and I think them missing things in videos is more due to the whole doing commentary and having a conversation at the same time thing, which is totally legit), I have to agree after watching it that the levels are sometimes a little long and/or have too few checkpoints. Super Mario RPG is insanely good, actually. The graphics are super-dated but so are a lot of games from 1996.

I can't believe people wanted them to go through all of it, though, that's ridiculous; that'd be so boring to watch and take forever. The quicker they get to Mario 64, the better, really.
