What possesses people to tweet these things? Do their friends find this funny, do they gain some sort of personal satisfaction, what? After doing it, do they look back at their hate speech with pride? Do they think that they're respectable people or that they have the higher ground for doing this?

Seeing all of them reminded me of LiveJournal, and I dug up my old one from seventh grade back in 2001. Full of those stupid quiz results.

"I'm not racist but I didn't die on 9/11 so that this country could be defiled by Coca Cola!!!" A lot of what I've seen on the thread recently reminds me of an old coding project of mine. It was a script that generated Fox News comments. What I'd do is, I'd register as "bob_patriot" or "freedom_man" on Fox News and post comments made by the script. People fell for it. Here is one example, the generated comment is the one on top:

This would make for a hilarious dystopian movie. Even better if the Hamburglar is the one that drags you off to court where you are faced with Judge Mayor McCheese and the jury is made up entirely of Grimace clones. While in hamburger prison you're made to give Nazi salutes to a painting of Ronald McDonald in your jail cell, and if you refuse, they send you through a red plastic PlayPlace slide into a ball pit filled with lava.

I'm lucky enough to have just graduated with two years of research experience in biology, as well as an internship that I'm grateful I managed to get. Even then, it's still been really hard to find a job. It was impossible even before I graduated.

davebo posted:I just have to know more about this. Have you ever asked her specifically which business is constitutionally obligated to give you a job? Or are you just entitled to one job anywhere you like and you simply need to pick the place? Or do you just go to the DMV and say you're here to collect your job and they assign you one like a lottery. Congratulations Karl Fungus, you're now a helicopter pilot for those heli tours in Hawaii. Get packed! She is firmly convinced that because I am an American citizen, I can just walk into any retail place or whatever and request a job and get it. This is probably because she grew up in communist Poland and has no idea of how things work here, but she's been here for thirty years, so..

I have some Myspace screenshots too, somewhere on my old flash drive. Back in high school I thought it would be hilarious to make a Myspace profile for some realdoll pictures I found, based on an SA frontpage article where the writer did the same but on a dating site. The reactions were equally gross and hilarious.
