Why does the auto pilot always go the opposite direction of where I'm headed and drops below 10k feet? A flight from JFK to London does not mean you descend and point towards the Pacific ocean does it?

I managed to get a t.16000 off Amazon for regular price but it said it wasn't shipping until October, checked it today and it'll be here Monday apparently? Guess I lucked out on the price cause it's now 400 dollars.

Is there a good combat sim to play now that I have a HOTAS, I tried out DCS and it was okay but all the cool planes are 80 dollars a piece
