I'd like to suggest a Workshop mod for the OP:
Arrow Upgrading

I love this mod so much, because it lets you take those eleven million iron/falmer/ancient nord arrows and upgrade them into more useful ones. Each upgrade is 20 lower tier to 10 of the next tier, so 20 iron arrows give you 10 steel. No more feeling like you have to hoard Ebony arrows 'just in case'

Ugh, trying to figure out why this new character is having issues starting 'Hitting the Books' after finishing up 'Under Sarthal'. Attempts to use 'setquest' and 'startquest' on it have been unsuccessful. I'm not immediately aware of any conflicts with this quest. I guess I'll thumb through TES5Edit and see if anything is touching it. I don't know if it's tied somehow to the main questline starting or what, as I am using Live Another Life.

I'm not familiar with Thunderchild, but what does the error say? As far as Boss the best way is to extract the archive into a sub-directory in MO. So put in in something like C:\Program Files (x86)\ModOrganizer\BOSS v2.1.1 Archive\ and then in MO click the binaries tab (pull down list of applications next to the Run button), and hit edit. Point it towards Boss.exe and hit Add, and then ok. Use the pull down to select boss, and hit run. Switch it back to run Skyrim or whatever to run other programs.

Much thanks! I deleted Thunderchild when I got errors and it didn't work, so I can't remember specifically what the errors said. However, thanks for the help with BOSS. Much appreciated.

I just bought Skyrim legendary. Is there any benefit to installing it on the SSD? If it is just minur increase to load times then I don't think I need the SSD.

What about texture packs? Is there a noticeable impact if I'm using texture packs?

Installing it on my SSD nearly eliminated load times even with texture packs and nearly 100 mods installed so i'd say its worth it but ymmv since some loading screens still took a bit. Also it takes up a decent amount of space especially with a lot of big mods installed.

I'll check both things out, though I'm guessing the latter bug is either a weird conflict or just Skyrim being weird. That perk is one of many perks that read your game settings whenever you load your game (because any script modifications are reset on game load), so it always tries to 'know' what your settings are from any installed mods, not just assume the default values. Then, it modifies those settings via a script. Its modification is dirt simple in that it just drops everything down a tier. Lesser soul gets set to 1, common gets set to whatever your default lesser soul setting was, greater gets set to common, etc. So either something is modifying those default settings to a weird value, or Skyrim is spawning very high level skeletons and such. Either is possible, really.

I suppose it's also possible that somehow your game is remembering the script settings on game load. That always seemed like one of those things that shouldn't work the way it does, so it wouldn't surprise me if in some cases it works differently. If this were the case, it would be lowering everything by another tier on game load.
Thanks for looking into them, seorin. I may also chalk up the soul gems thing to some random Skyrim weirdness, as I've seen some Common and Lesser soul traps in my game since that post.

There were some comments saying that if you clean Undeath and delete Its changes to Tamriel in the Worldspace section it will stop breaking quests. I don't know if deleting the worldspace stuff breaks anything in Undeath or if maybe just cleaning it was what fixed it but I managed to finish the thieves guild quest it broke without any issues afterward. I haven't attempted Undeath quests at all though so I can't tell if that's broken now from deleting the Tamriel stuff.

Has anyone tried using Werewolf Mastery's compatibility patch for Moonlight Tales? No matter what I've tried the compatibility patch never seems to work and always ends up breaking the beat form completely. When I try to bring up the werewolf menu by sheathing and then pressing the shout/power key in beast form it either makes me roar or makes it so I can't roar, attack, or feed.

Did you make the Werewolf Customization Ring before or after getting Beast Form? I had an issue where it wouldn't work till I made a second one after getting Beast Form.

No, they aren't. ENB fucks around between input and output, during the actual rendering of things. Texture packs are all input.

The texture section is still kind of a work in progress. The whole OP is being salvaged and updated from the ancient threads from the now-hidden Skyrim & SR3 subforum.

ENB is a graphics mod that alters shadows, post processing effects, and adds neato effects. For texture packs, you have Skyrim HD and Bethesda's DLC textures. These aren't the only two, but they are the most used.

ENB is a post processing graphics program to make Skyrim (and other games) look totally sweet. Some builds will kill your FPS if you're using 1gb vram or less and others you won't even notice the hit with. If you use a lighting mod like Climates of Tamriel then you'll want to find something that's made to be compatible.

This is a pretty comprehensive texture pack that I've been using with no complaints. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20801

Yes, unarmed damage is tied to pickpocketing perks so unarmed attacks raise pickpocketing a bit. Also works with vampire lord/werewolf claw attacks.

Just a head's up, you may need to revert to a save before you installed Undeath, depending on whether or or not you killed the master thief it spawns on the road to riverwood from helgen. That'll break all sorts of thieves guild quests.

Yeah, I followed the instructions exactly. Looking at Werewolf Mastery's thread on the nexus forums it seems like a few other people have had the same problem, so I've just given up on the compatibility patch and I'm just using WM on it's own now. Some of the additions from Moonlight Tales were nice, but WM seems like it changes the beast form itself more.

I'm probably going to remove Apocalypse :( Some ideas are really nice, but destruction spells are way too powerfull IE: Eye of the Storm and Inferno are way more potent than Sparks and Firebolt. They're supposed to be balanced by some additional complications (IE: EotS forces you to keep you crosshair on your enemy, or the cast gets interrupted), but since you're playing against AIs it's way to easy to get an unfair advantage by using them. Granted, being this a SP game, you could just avoid the overpowered spells.

I'm afraid so.
They are more powerful, but Destruction is by far the weakest school of magic and also the worst offensive skill. The problem is it's so bad that many mods try to address it (SPERG, Apocalypse, etc.) and the compound effect can sometimes combine to overdo it. What difficulty setting are you playing on?

Well:

1.) Skyrim crashing when memory use exceeds 3.1GB is a thing
2.) Skyrim gobbling up tons of memory in general is a thing
3.) Patching executables to go up to the 64bit memory limit is also a thing

I dunno about other of the "performance enhancer" stuff that's in there, but if your long sessions are consistently crashing after a certain amount of adventuring, it could help. I don't think that's what your problem is.

Fully configurable personal assistant.
I have a question about SPERG as it relates to Character Creation Overhaul.

CCO lets you chose or make classes with major skills and a specialization like in Morrowind. All skills start by default at level 5 instead of level 15, and then the class data is added to that. This means that your chosen major skills will be at least level 25 if you have no racial or specialization bonus, or a maximum of 40 if its a major skill, a specialization skill, and the single skill your race has a +10 bonus in (the other five are +5). On top of this, if it gives a +5 or +20 bonus then it also increases the leveling rate by 5% or 20% respectively.

Now that I've clarified that, my question about SPERG is how will that impact the balance of the game if you're already starting with apprentice level perks for your six major skills at level 1? Does SPERG perhaps not expect that at the early level or something? For reference, as a Khajit Rogue I started the game with: Block 30, One Handed 35, Illusion 25, Alchemy 30, Light Armor 25, Speech 25.

Also, my question about the excellent racials mod still remains? How often to NPCs use racial abilities. Since their lives are measured in seconds :v:, I don't want them spamming them all at once at me.

Inverness fucked around with this message at 17:23 on Sep 7, 2013

I wouldn't think it'd affect the balance much beyond allowing you to level slower, as your main skills are going to take more use to raise. Lockpicking and any of the others you dumpstered might make up for it, but I've never tried setting a skill below 15, so I'm pretty curious about it honestly!

On a completely different note, how is Ebonvale?

The thing with this patch is that it's only meant to relieve the CTDs you get from hitting the 3.1 GB limit. You can still in fact CTD from conflicting mods and other issues not related to memory. I've been using it for a while now and it's helped reduce the amount of CTDs I would have gotten.

If you're still concerned about the validity of Boris' patch, I suggest you download the Skyrim Performance Monitor, set it up, and run it alongside your Skyrim install and see for yourself.

It's pretty much the only thing out there advertising significant performance differences that isn't snake oil. Your mileage will vary depending on what kind of system you have for it to work with, but it does what the author says it does. Judging by the responses in the last thread, it's a complete game-changer for those who have decent-to-good rigs and are running a lot of mods and high-res textures. Even on a dinosaur computer with a 32-bit OS, I see significantly less ctds, somewhat fewer problems with running out of memory, and a mild increase in overall smoothness.

Do read the instructions and take note of what the various settings do, so you can set it up optimally for your machine.
