It is far far worse. No memorable scenes, waves and wave of enemies coupled with a stupid "okay squad you can shoot stuff now" mechanic that means you are with 3-4 people throughout the game and you're killing absolutely everyone on your own. Add to that the amount of standing around and waiting you'll have to do for your NPCs to catch up and it's just really awful and unenjoyable.

Yes the worst thing about it is just how utterly forgettable the whole thing is. No fight is important and you can basically just around doing whatever the gently caress while the scripts go on all around. I got bored over halfway through the first mission because I could just walk upto everyone and melee kill them. This was on hard mind you no one ever bothered to shoot me enough to stop me and you regenerate so fast it's never an issue. loving Wolverine would be jealous of this guy's regenerating.

On a positive note though the multiplayer is rad and having a good emblem is absolutely key to doing well.

Both campaigns completely fail to sell the idea of "Battlefield". That said, I liked it, but I'm not necessarily a good person to listen to on this. I'm that guy who unironically likes the CoD campaigns while understanding that they are highly scripted roller coasters with writing that can't even come close to the cheapest and trashiest airport fiction out there.

Since DICE is bound and determined to make Russia "the bad guys", I'd rather they just went and did a Battlefield 1984 or some poo poo, where there was actually a good chance a major shooting war could have happened between NATO and the USSR. I'd like to see a campaign that stressed larger scale set-piece battles, attacks and defenses on strategic locations, with perspective switches between the different aspects and perspectives of war.

Basically, take World In Conflict, and make it a Battlefield game, I guess.

That's what made Bad Company so good it was just a group of likable characters trying steal a gently caress ton of motherfucking gold from the middle of a war against the bad guy from Commando. It was so ridiculous and full of poo poo exploding 24/7 that it couldn't be anything but great.

I've seen a countless number of other jets on my minimap able to just spin in the same spot as I'm trying to get behind them. There is absolutely no way to break a circle fight and once you try to break off he instantly kills you. Try to break off then reengage goes back into a circle fight but he gets a chance to disable you.

You have two options in a furball like that. If you slow down a bit you will have a tighter turn. Slowdown too much and you will turn too slow though. There's a point for the two jets where you have the best ratio and if you do that you can usually catch the other guy since few people slow down.

Alternatively if you punch it to 11 you will be circling faster and can sometimes catch him. Whatever the enemy is doing do the opposite. If he's hitting the afterburner slow down and whip around. In most dogfights people just hold a turn as tight as possible. Take advantage of where the enemy is going to be and don't forget you move in 3d. Don't forgot you just need to get behind him so don't just make straight rings to try to catch him. Use loops and immelmanns to take advantage of a 3d turn.

Hmm so the Warthog has landing gear and is capable of landing if you get past the speed cap but if you get out the plane immediately explodes. Also more surprisingly if you slow down by stalling in the F-35 it will still automatically switch to VTOL mode but the flight model won't change and you'll just drift backwards until falling out of the sky or speeding up out of it. You probably could switch to VTOL if you could somehow slow down enough but they lowered the break speed for all the jets so they don't deploy landing gear/go VTOL. I wonder why they got rid of the VTOL mode since it's clearly still in.

Unless the attack jet is actively trying to kill me I have a hard time hitting it unless it makes a mistake :(

If it is making a run for me I just put on my Active Protection and laugh as I fire missiles straight into it's face.

Fire one missile to make them pop their flares or whatever. If it's just flares then reload and fire two missiles to bring them down. If it's a jammer you will have to wait for it to cool down.

Just always be shooting your cannons and fire off the missiles as often as you have a lock and you will usually end up dealing enough to make them crash.

The problem is they greatly reduced the points you get for reviving even if you charge it all the way for the revive. So now not only is it harder to revive people to full but everyone has that cooldown and you get way less points. Not to mention you can just respawn right in the fight on a squad mate. It just doesn't seem as useful as it has been.

May as well just take a grenade launcher with the med pack.

Kibayasu posted:

The biggest problem maps with the scout helicopter are the ones where the MAA is tied to holding a point (Resort and Paracel which you'll note are also infantry heavy maps with only a few light vehicles). If one team has both the MAA and a two engineer scout chopper on those maps you aren't ever going to kill that chopper without a lucky-ish AT rocket shot, a jet ramming it, the pilot losing control after a missile hit, or a literal teamwide/mapwide gauntlet of Stingers/IGLA's. Paracel isn't so bad because taking B is fairly simple and the MAA usually hangs around there any way so its easier to kill. But taking C in Resort is a motherfucker against an entrenched team with all their armor there, being supported by a nigh-unkillable helicopter, unless your team has its act together.

In BF3 DICE did a small balance of Wake Island by tying the MAA on that map to one of the "side" points, D I think, so the US team could theoretically take it away a lot easier. Since Resort and Paracel aren't Conquest Assault maps it'll be harder to balance but I wouldn't be surprised to see a change like that, barring some kind of repair speed change to scout choppers. I still think my idea of having a form of "suppression" affecting the repair speed of vehicles under fire is the best one though :colbert:

I think a much bigger problem with the maps is people's tendencies to just flock to the rooftops and sit around sniping all day long which leads to non stop rocket/stinger barrages from the sky. They really should give the commanders some always around artillery or something to not only give them something to do (which is a huge problem when being the commander, even when people follow your orders and you are winning theres not much to do but click a button every couple of seconds with no real care) but some artillery would discourage people from just sitting around in AA trucks and on roof tops. I played a round on some random 70p server on the downtown map with the exploding pipeline and I swear 80% of both teams were on different rooftops just trying to be bad rear end snipers.

Pretty sure I'm calling it quits on this game until some patches come in. At least if I wasn't getting killed in one hit by guys who are literally facing away from me all the time I might be able to enjoy it.

Tanks take directional damage. Upto I think 50 in one rocket from the rear. Glancing hits deal less damage as well. So for the best shot use a rocket to the back of a tank dead on. Except for the starting rocket launcher which always hits above for 21 damage. APCs don't take directional damage but take way more damage so it's not a big deal as long as you can hit them.
