All of the named characters in Advance Wars are commanding officers or higher, so they're not actually on the battlefield much. I imagine special moves based on deploying miniature units, much like the assist trophy, probably an infantry and a tank since they're the most common. Andy would have stronger tanks since he's a mechanic, and Sami would have stronger infantry. Snake's final smash would actually be perfect for Sami, and Andy's could be similar but fire a Megatank instead. Actually, if Nintendo can't/won't license Snake for Smash 4 but want to keep the moveset, either of these guys would be a good replacement.

Falcon clone, since it makes a whole hell of a lot more sense for the character (and gives us a unique Ganondorf without losing that incredible moveset). I think a villain with that much history deserves a set entirely his own.

It's great that they're putting in new characters in the game, especially after the amount of work required to put in Mewtwo, a character with moves and animations they could use as a reference. Their modelling really fits in with the art style, too. Since I've been playing Kingdom Hearts 3D, I would like to see Sora in the game, if only because he has an enormous moveset to choose from, and over half of the Kingdom Hearts games have been on Nintendo systems. You can still make a character interesting even if they didn't fight in their original game, such as Captain Falcon, but being able to use their own moves is really cool. It's one of the things I thought PlayStation All-Stars did really well, with characters like Raiden, Dante, and Kratos playing like 2D versions of their actual games.

If I remember correctly the mask's spikes were actually part of the stage, so it wouldn't be suited for competitive play (also the downward sides would probably be death traps and thus unfair) but I suppose those could be edited to not be part of the stage.

Played Project M today. I'm sad that Snake's Nikita missile is gone but Mewtwo and Roy are cool. Sadly the Wii U froze as I was activating Sonic's final smash. The chaos emeralds were too much to handle I guess.

Probably has something to do with the clone engine. In Subspace Emissary mode a couple of the bosses have their voice and sound effects replaced with Mewtwo and Roy's, so I think the clone engine involves using the boss characters' "slots". Since each new character has to use an existing one as a "base" maybe Link is the basis for one of the next new characters?
