As she rolled the last bit of rope into his pack, Nevirti turned to look at her husband.

"Who else is going? Vigo hasn't made like he's heading off anytime soon."

"Aye, he's staying in case something else comes to harass the town. It's just a few of us headed over to Huaca."

She sighed, pacing the room nervously. "Pal...just bring her home. Whatever else is happening with these orcs, I want my daughter."

"I know, love, I know...I'm sure she's fine, she's tough & sharp...alright, as ready as can be I suppose. We're supposed to meet with Ezra before we set off."

"Eh, it's not much of a riddle. To me, at least. Last I saw she went runnin' off to find some friend of hers (Violet, I think; human girl, sweet kid) while the orcs were attackin'. Told her to get in the basement but...eh, guess I can't fault her much, I did much the same going after her. She's a tough little things, and awful headstrong, so there's a chance she decided to follow the war-band on her own. Stupid, really, not like her to be that thoughtless, but I guess that's kids for ya.

The other obvious answer is that she got herself caught and hauled off...suppose the only way to know is to go and see. If she's not with the orcs and we don't find her along the way...then I'm short of ideas of where she coulda gone."

As the sky grew dark, Palivir studied the orcish totem. He hadn't found any secret passages the times he'd ventured to scout outside of Daybreak, but then, that is the point of them.

"If the orcs took a hidden passage, then they likely made much better time than we will if we go through the mountains. We're already two days behind them...it might be worth a look around if it means keeping pace. Or making up time, if they went through the mountains."

Palivir also wanted a closer look at the orc's camp. He drew the shadows close around him til he seemed to melt away into the darkness, then skulked quietly forward alongside Oliver.

As he eyed the large creatures in the hall, it was clear now that they were like no orc Palivir had ever seen. Savage as they appeared, it would probably be best to just kill them rather than attempt contact...but as he was thinking of the right way to go about it, Palivir felt the presence of the odd medium sneaking behind him.

As Miren's spell and dagger both worked their way into him, the proper mode of attack became clear. With this newly bestowed strength, Palivir lept from the shadows to rend one of the creatures before it had a chance to react.

Palivir

As the shade's words crept into Palivir's ear, he felt the shadows which had him bound start to dig into his flesh. Unable to properly retaliate, Pal kept focused on the troll, hoping his allies could handle the dark agent.

After cutting into the troll with searing blades envenomed with his own natural poison, Pal felt the constricting shadows start to loosen and fall away. Perhaps Miren's attack had broken its concentration, but whatever the reason, he was glad to be rid of them.

Palivir takes 15 necrotic damage.

The shade was making him nervous. Thoughts of what it could be ran through Palivir's mind, but ultimately, it didn't matter. He wanted it gone, or at least under control, and since the shade was so quick to strike at him from the shadows, Pal decided to respond in kind.

Pal dealt the troll a swift blow to the back, leaving it for his comrades to finish off, and quickly darted away, seeming to disappear. Moments later, he rushed up behind the off-guard figure and pulled his garrote wire tight around its throat.

Palivir whispered in its ear, "Time may have dulled my blade, but not my skill. The shadows are my domain. Now you can either surrender and explain yourself, or I can finish what you started."

Standard: Sly Flourish vs Troll 1: 23; 33 fire damage.

Move: Skulking Spy; shift to N-6, gain Concealment via Shadow Walk, Stealth to Hide: 34.

Palivir gave a quiet sigh as Oliver studied the dragonborn assassin. It seemed that cat would soon be out of the bag, so to speak, unless he could come up with some clever way to pass this all off. Though he still wanted to maintain his cover (out of habit or duty, he wasn't really sure...an odd thought, that) and felt somewhat responsible for the safety of his fellow agent (despite the attempted assault), Pal couldn't shake the feeling that there were more forces at work here than any of them realized, and such danger might require revealing his own affiliations to keep his allies (and probably himself) forewarned.

Whatever the reality, the first step to unraveling the mystery began with the assassin.

"Alright, then, time for a chat with our young friend here." Palvir stepped over the huddled figure, still fainted from the prior strangling, and slapped him roughly across the face with a swift backhand, jostling him to consciousness.

"Wake up, you damned idiot." Pal practically growled in his native draconic. "I can think of few reasons for you to be here, and none of them are good for me. You can't have just happened upon us, coincidences like that don't happen. So, who sent you, and why?"

"The political climate of my homeland is apparently changing, Ms. Yates, to put it simply." replied Palivir in a somber tone as he examined the clasp taken from the assassin. "...but, no matter. It shouldn't distract us from our mission. At least we can make use of that young fool's gear."

Pal doesn't need the clasp or shirt, idk if y'all already sorted out who got what (aside from ArkInBlack saying he'd like the Shirt).

Only realistic way up would be through the air, and he'd probably get spotted...better to wait for the others to ready themselves.

"The hell is that?" muttered Palivir as he saw the towering beast among the trogs. "Well, first things first then...hopefully these three go down without too much fuss."

He creeps up behind the first unsuspecting Troglodyte, then swiftly cuts at the back of its legs. Poor fool scarcely has time to realize what's happening before a quick nudge sends him reeling off the side to the cave floor below. Palivir lets out a soft chuckle as he positions behind another foe.

"Rhonwen...dammit!" Palivir turned to consider a haphazard rescue, but could see Keelie moving to assist. Trusting her to have the situation in hand, he instead narrowed his eyes at their comrade's would-be murderers. If he couldn't kill them, at the very least he'd catch their attention.
