Raluek posted:Except that in California you don't need to smog a "diesel-powered" vehicle 1997 or older, instead of the 1975 cutoff for gas. So you take a diesel-powered vehicle, put an actual good motor in it, and go racin'. You would think this would make the diesel GM cars worth thousands. Here's my $600 truck. 1999 7.3 powerstroke with 190k kms. I'm on the fence about what to do with it. It's too solid and rust free to be a drive train donor, but on the other hand it's a 15 year old 2wd truck in alberta.

Were any of the other gauges wiggling? could be a bad battery, or something as simple as dirty terminals

Could be a bad ground, or a short somewhere. was the door open when the tach was jumping? power for the door dinger could be grounding through the tach circuit. I had a van once where the dome light would flash with the signal lights.

It's an 06 f-150. probably a little light for your use. edit: also, as far as truck buyin, the summer Ritchie bros auction in GP was 3 days ago, even though you missed it, the prices should still help with your shopping https://www.rbauction.com/search?id...is0Mjk0MjM2MzAx Powershift fucked around with this message at 05:43 on Jun 30, 2014 |

And matching those up with auction results https://www.rbauction.com/2012-dodge-2500hd-slt-crew-cab-4x4-pickup?invId=4165427&id=ar $4900 cheaper, might literally be the same truck https://www.rbauction.com/2011-ford-f250-xlt-crew-cab-4x4-pickup?invId=4161915&id=ar Higher mileage, but $9000 cheaper. https://www.rbauction.com/2011-ford-f350-xlt-crew-cab-4x4-pickup?invId=4165389&id=ar Higher mileage, but $2500 and a diesel. Auctions are a gamble, naturall, but saving $9000 off a $17000 truck can put a lot of longevity modifications into it. some texas redneck posted:I like the gay pride sticker. I took my $600 truck out for a drive today, it's loving hilarious. Floor it and chuck it into a corner, half way through the turbo spools and kicks the rear end loose. That's how i imagine a porsche would react, only this does it at 30mph where the porsche would do it at 120 and send you into a tree. I also cut the cage off, and measured out a chevy bumper my dad has laying around, it might fit perfect, and look right, like, really right.

Who wore it better. The bumper sticks a little further forward than I would have liked but free is free. I'll take another look before I Mount it up but I don't think the bumper can physically fit around the frame rails.

Friar Zucchini posted:I need to see it at a few other angles, but from that picture it looks pretty wonky. You could take it a step further and just cover the whole thing in random mismatched parts, though. Now you've got the idea! if I could move it back a couple inches it would be perfect but that would involve frame modification.

Rhyno posted:Can't you knock off bits of the bumper itself to make it fit? I'd have to notch out quite a bit of the actual bumper beam, which is flimsy as gently caress as it is. Chevy figured instead of using a good chunk of steel to make a bumper, they could just add little reinforcement bars to prevent it from wiggling when you hit a bump.

Mounted the bumper. Almost got it dead center too! I ran out off 1/2 washers, and only needed one more. Drive across town, spending 15 minutes and burning $3 in fuel, or.... I love my $602 truck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SszuEufOJVc It may be slow as balls, but god does it make a beautiful noise.

Elephanthead posted:I would like to personally thank GM for installing a shift cable bracket that not only is bolted to the transmission from the top with torx bolts that fill with dirt and rust, but also for ensuring the bracket is bent so that it prevents the removal of the transmission pan. As a bonus, extra thanks for including a drain plug in the pan, that can't possible be unbolted thanks to locktite and a head designed to be stripped. I've found a lot of their stuff was designed to be put together exactly once. On that bumper i used, almost all the hardware was single use, and broke in dissasembly. A lot of the interior pieces on them is clipped in in such a way that you have a 50/50 shot of pulling the piece out of the clip, or pulling the plastic off of the trim piece that attaches to the clip.

Why would you need a drain plug, it's lifetime* fluid! *lifetime in this case meaning warranty period.

$600 trucks are expensive. I got all my fuckered batteries together and tried bringing them back. Got 1 of the 2 out of the f-250 back to usable state and threw it in the lincoln, and 2 of the 4 i pulled out of the mack into a useable state. got terminal adapters, but they're JUST BARELY too big to fit in the factory positions in the f-250. big empty fuckin engine bay and i would have to cut and weld poo poo to get the batteries in there. On the flip side, who doesn't want 2200cca in a pickup.
