I'm kind of curious to see how TFF judges players as the best. I can think of quite a few guys who were among the most talented players to ever pick up a football, but you'd never know it looking at their career stats.

Nah, have fun. I'd probably end up drafting the entire 2009 Saints team anyway.

It occurs to me that I don't really know who the best guards and centers are of all time. For tackle there's Art Shell, Anthony Munoz,Johnathan Ogden, etc.
Guard... Larry Allen? Center I have no idea.

I'm pretty sure I know the 3 top players in my mind, the question is which of them I'll have to pick from. If there's more than one the decision could be pretty difficult.

The problem is everyone back in the day was tinier. Otto is a goddamn Raider legend and deserves a spot as one of the top centers of all time but at the end of the day he would be a 6'2, 250 lb. center on a modern team.

Logan Mankins is up there.

The real loving bear of this is, the older you go, the more run oriented your lineman are going to be. Would those old Hall of Fame tackles really be good in a pass-first offense?

For purposes of picking up old dudes that are 200 pound guards, just picture them inflated to today's standards.

Yeah, you pretty much have to pretend any lineman who played prior to the 90's is just going to put on 40lbs and 4 inches of height and knows modern schemes / rules otherwise you pretty much can't take any of those older players and pretty much won't have any safeties to pick from.

The four big names for me are Will Shields (homer), Randall McDaniel, John Hannah, and Larry Allen. Bruce Matthews certainly also, although he played a number of years at OT.

I would have taken Peyton #1 with a bullet, so having him be there at 3 made this pick a slam dunk. I was totally prepared to take Rice at 3 and sort out my QB situation later, but Peyton's an entire offense unto himself and I just couldn't pass that up.

I would have taken Young if Manning and Rice were both gone.
