It was more disappointing (and surprising) when I found that even most of Manhattan isn't like Times Square.

After analyzing traffic, it appears the site has been assaulted by an unprecedented DDOS attack that the hardware just cannot handle.

We're counting over 20 connection requests per second and a corresponding flood of almost 0.3Mbps of data.

There's still some capacity left. The hosting connection is a 3/1Mbps AT&T DSL modem.

(It only connects at 1.5/0.5Mbps though since the lines are old and it's a bit far from the DSLAM.)

I haven't been following the forums' changes in technical leadership, but given the history, I can't tell if these are real or fake posts.
