PvP altercations are either pointless slaughter in open world field zones, guild war that essentally only rewards the winner with the ability to spraypaint a dick on the defender's guild base, brawling in a open world dungeon for control of your xp pissing ground farm and stealing sheep from another server.
To be fair, this by itself is more than Wushu provided as far as having "a point" to pvp unless you were going for super inners. What was it we got for holding a base in Wushu again? An extra set of teleport points away from everywhere?

Also, you left out treasure stealing and zone xp bonuses. We have guild treasures to fight over which give stat bonuses.

So if you do 10 of them you get ~55 cents worth of unbound currency? Doesn't seem like that big a deal. Is there literally nothing else for rewards? No guild upgrade points or anything like that?

At least I can finally get that one quest out of my log. That'll be nice.

5 Venoms 4 Ever

Also less jokingly it is actually pretty difficult to drop the 5v fields on the ground properly in guild fights while flying 50' up in the air. Which is what you should probably be doing as a 5v unless you're Clare level. Be the suicidal dive bomber you always wanted to be. Drop fields from up high where no one can hit you back, fall down, then use the knockdown field to keep half a dozen people down for about 10 seconds.

Another fun trick is abusing respawn immunity to just constantly sprint into the middle of their formation with no health and drop disable/freeze/knockdown field. Who needs to use the medic or heal up at all when you're going to die and come back in 10 seconds just in time for the field cooldown to be up anyway. Just keep locking everyone down and let the chumpy other classes who can't do something this awesome and persistent kill people. Although I seem to end up even or better k/d doing this anyway plus disabling/freezing/chain proning a ton of enemies repeatedly.

The 5V description in the OP needs some reworking I think, so I wrote a few words. The class doesn't really have a lot of options to "keep you at range". There's a few knockbacks that put people out of the shortest melee attacks for a bit, but those are 30 second cooldowns. Also "damage over time" is a little deceptive since the over time damage is largely in ground effects as opposed to the typical target-effect dots. You can set people on fire or poison them, but the bulk of the damage is still in the ground effect. 5V plays a lot more like a PBAE class than a typical DoT class with regards to damage.

In open world large group pvp you don't need to figure people out. You're a suicide dive bomber. No one is going to be doing all the things they need to do to stop you. You just need to find a high enough nearby place to airdash off of so no one can hit you dropping fields in midair and you're golden.

Here's a potential replacement for the op:

In PvE Five Venoms have many tools to take down groups of 5 regular enemies (the most common layout) with one skill, though they each can take a few seconds to finish. Starting with the second set you get a relatively short cooldown spin that can regularly finish off a group of 5 if you line it up right, but with the third set you can take down chains of regular groups of 5 with few issues. For bosses you have amazing CC ability, probably even the best overall. Best of all, unlike some other classes which need to knock things around or too high for others to hit to do their CC and thus cause group members to miss, the 5V fields don't move mobs at all. The cherry on top is that the school also gets a solid group heal, though it is very chi hungry and has a long cooldown.

In 1v1 PvP you don't have any great combos as solid as some of the other classes, but if you can get a good chain in you can really hurt in a way that other classes have a hard time matching. There's lots of timing involved with fiddly positioning. You also get no counters, so you are more susceptible to "counts as a grab" than most classes, although in exchange you get what is arguably the best and longest range "counts as a grab" move in the game with Silver Thread aka Nut Stomp. Still very workable in 1v1 PvP, but can be very frustrating at times.

In smaller group pvp people will have a hard time doing the things they need to do to stop your control. Other than that it is a lot like 1v1. In guild wars and such if you can double jump airdash off a high enough building, you can rain most of your area effects from the air with impunity before falling and dropping the knockdown field before dying (and maybe taking several of them with you). This is a great way to break apart a defensive blob as a large, webby, flaming field of skill disable+root+freeze in the middle of their blob without any reliable way to stop it from happening will ruin any guild warrior's day.

The first set is terrible for leveling because there is no real area damage and low single target damage so 5V starts really slow. Things really pick up when you get the whip-centric second set at 20, and takes off with the field and poison focused third set at 40. The school feels like a specialist/support type strategically played class, but it can also really bring the hurt if you take the time to setup and/or take advantage of the circumstances for it. Enemy positioning is a critical concern for any 5V to be aware of for multiple reasons due to their point blank area focus.

Also the whip sound effects are cool.

Pick 5V if you want to:
Have the best control in pve of any class by a good margin, and arguably in pvp as well.
Have a solid group heal.
Be a kamikaze dive bomber in large group pvp that locks down a dozen people at once.
Nut stomp people in 1v1 pvp.

E: Maybe that's too long and some words should be cut.

Yeah and we should probably only just put in that harmony are assassins rather than the useful gameplay information that is there. It might actually be nice for newbies to have useful descriptions of what all the schools' capabilities are so they don't burn out on a class they end up not wanting to play. It doesn't help that the current op description for 5v is kind of erroneous or misleading either.

Maybe I'll put some more effort into making that a bit shorter later. Right now I have vermin to kill.

You can look at gear stats up to level 100 on the hero order vendors. After 50 it flattens out a lot.

They just had to make this difficult with stats giving different things for different schools.

So does this mean that 5V has the second best sustained defenses in the game behind Wu-Tang or do different schools get vastly different amounts of base stats per level too?

5 Venoms has a long duration area knockdown field composed of a pink mist and bugs. The pink one at 30 seconds here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_m8CSWCnrdA

You also get things that can knock people around some. Also a whip grab nut stomp. Basically 5v is packed with rear end in a top hat CC stuff. Even the area damage stuff will snare people, prevent them from moving or disable skills while setting them on fire. 5V's skills are just sometimes tricky to use because of the "over time" aspect that usually sticks to the ground instead of the targets in the area.

I like it though. 5 Venoms 4 Ever.
