Does anyone else feel like Brandon Lee's performance in The Crow is kinda similar to Heath Ledger's in The Dark Knight? The mannerisms and cadence in the voice is what does it for me, but I also watched The Crow while absurdly high on cough syrup because I was desperately trying to force the flu out of me and also I was retarded and 16.

Shining is a masterpiece. Middlebrow? Lol It is the highest brow.

Yeah, the Shining is like a 5-head with a hairline so receded that it's even losing the hairs at the nape of the neck, it's very high brow.

Actually, that raises a question, if someone is balding so much that the balding reaches the back of their neck, is their brow now really high? Or has it come around to being really low?
Is it both? In that case, it's possible that The Shining could be really high brow and low brow at the same time.

He just made Nymphomaniac, a two-part film with Gainsbourg/Stellan Skarsgard/Dafoe/Labeouf/Thurman that's coming out on DVD soon, but it's 4 hours (his unreleased director's cut is 5.5 hours because he's literally insane)

Don't forget Dancer in the Dark or the Riget series.

Yeah, the action in Dark City can be beat, and that ending sequence was never fully to my taste (mostly because it took an already somewhat kitschy move and made it full blown tacky), but the setting and atmosphere, along with the noir vibe, gives it a really unique and fun feel for most of the film, it's also a pretty film with some great sets.
