Golf, the way it was meant to be played.

Like many things British, the Open Championship was the first of its kind so it does not bear the "British" identifier unless you're an ignorant American. Despite the course's name of Royal Liverpool, the clubhouse is actually located in Hoylake and the course extends to the neighboring town of West Kirby, hence the alternate name. The Open was last played here in 2006, when Tiger Woods was able to win despite only hitting driver once because the course was fast and hard. This year, Tiger will not be winning, and the course should play softer and longer.

Air Times (ET)

Sun: 6am-1:30pm ESPN, Encore 3-6pm ABC, Best of 9pm-midnight ESPN

So basically golf around the clock :getin:. You can also watch on WatchESPN, and https://www.theopen.com will also have live video of some sort.

Does that make me the caboose on the night train? Let's roll!

I love the heck out of the Open. It's also the major in which Sergio has the best track record and, in my opinion, best chance of winning his first. Unfortunately, I'm going to a friend's bachelor party and will miss almost all of the second and third rounds. I'm gonna try to catch all of the first round, and we should all be sleeping off hangovers Sunday morning, so maybe I can catch the winner.

If you have access to WatchESPN, you should check out this channel: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/1866542/

It's following Tiger's group in the morning then Phil's group in the afternoon which means we should be able to see what the players do between shots.

edit: What the gently caress, they have commercial breaks on this channel? Just show us the group! :fuckoff:

He's never won a major with the goatee. :eng101:

Then over the green out of the bunker.

He's never won a major after double bogeying the 1st, but he has done it with bogey, famously at the '97 Masters.

I like watching both tours but it's quite a big difference in the commentary. Nothing beats the Euro guys for entertaining and informative analysis. Those PGA tour guys seem to drone on I can't stand it...

Between Tiger one-hopping a drive off a guy's temple and Stenson snapping a club over his knee this has been a pretty entertaining morning of golf.

Also the golf is pretty good.

Yeah quite good so far. But enough of this perfect weather, I want there to be chaos tomorrow - it's an Open tradition :)

Also, who's that imposter with Darren Clarke's name? Hardly recognised him - a shadow of his former self!

Now that's links golf. The fairway's so wide you could park an aircraft carrier sideways on it, and the green is the size of a football field, and you're still going to gently caress it up. It is simply infuriating.

Bah, don't listen to the talking heads, Tiger's driving is actually pretty decent, and is just going to get better. Last season (not enough rounds for stat tracking this year) with a jacked back he was 17th in total driving. That is really good when you consider he is also top 20 in GIR's and his short game seems to be close to back as well.
