Hello. Rather than post int the thread about this game, I wanted to make a thread of my own because I feel that the game requires a discussion topic relating it to the themes of the first move, Alien. One of the things the movie did well in its portrayal of the Alien (in caps here because I want to both relate the creature to the title of the movie and bring attention tot he fact that the titular alien is the main focus of the game) is its lack of presentation. Yes, that's right -- I said a lack of presentation regarding the Alien. From pre-release footage I have seen that in Isolation, the alien walks around the ship as a kind of "static force" similar to recent horror games such as Outlast. In the Alien movie, which this game draws from and hopes to show itself as "Alien 2.5", the Alien was only frightening because it WASN'T shown. In video footage that does not show the player character interacting with "survivors" on the space craft, the player is shown hiding from an alien creature which walks around on its hind legs as a human creature would, moving through doors and examining the environment in a similar manner to Michael Myers or what have you. In the E3 footage, the player hides under a bed and the alien (here without caps because gently caress this game) walks through the door to the room, hangs out, looks around a little, and then leaves. There is no fear here. There is no anxiety or anticipated horror or whatever. No dread. What made Alien scary was the human interaction with the ship, and the actual LACK of screen time devoted to the Alien itself. It scurried around the vents, only presenting itself to the crew when they were alone and it could strike, kill, and quickly hide again. What in the god drat gently caress is with video game developers attempting to create a horror game with a spooky environment only to have the main enemy walking around like some piece of poo poo burglar looking for things to steal in an empty house, where the thing to steal is you, the player, surprisingly enough. Like wow. It's really bad. Thank you.

In addition I feel that the inclusion of people screaming and being quote "scared" of the game, in its trailer, is a huge "fail" move, and makes me want to hate it even more.

Well most alien/s games are pretty bad except for Alien: The Gun, the best one

I played a demo of Alien (3): The Movie Game on the PlayStation 1 and I enjoyed it surprisingly.

gonna need more cheese...australia has a lot of crackers
what works for movies as far as horror goes is a little different for games, a constant, deadly threat with no way to defend yourself works pretty well in games

well imo anyways, thx 4 reading op

arguable because i don't think that the "alien walking around like a man who wants to gently caress you" is very scary. i mean it could work well but it just doesnt evoke the same feelings

Take me at your own risk.

I always liked in that game how the aliens you shot would sometimes leap back up from the ground and charge at you with their limbs missing.

Also the only good alien game was that flash remake of the Aliens Board Game.

Hey all I think this new product in a medium made for children and stunted adults won't provide a fulfilling experience! Discuss.

"Sestren now faces Winged Death."
The Alien(s) games are the Sonic the Hedgehog of movie games. Very few of them are any good but every time they announce a new one everybody gets all hype about it; only to suffer disappointment once it finally comes out. It totally makes sense to me that Sega wants to jump on the first person horror bandwagon while it's still hot but choosing a developer that normally specialises in turn based strategy games seems like a huge risk.

I can only think of three previous Alien(s) games from the past that I liked. Alien Trilogy for the PS1/Sat was ok I guess. I thought Infestation for the DS was pretty good. Alien 3 for the Mega Drive/Genesis? Anyone... No? Just me then.
