The suggestion that the Ultras have turned is still coming from Alpharius even in the hologram, and thus still incredibly suspect. Not to mention that she may not be so much interested in teaching us as replacing us. Both she and the Iron Hands may be unwitting dupes, but they're still working towards Alpharius' ends.

It's a pleasure to meet all of you. Especially in such a fine settin' as this. Just need us some music an' a brawl an' we'll be set.
So, the big takeaway from this appears to be that our detachment of Iron Hands marines may well be "The Darkness" that our predecessors so feared. At the very least, they serve the goals of the "Blue and Gold" primarch. It would also help to explain why they're so calm about our dynastic use of warp-tek.

My expectation is that their primarch was duped by Alpharius toward one of his billion different plans. It didn't really pan out in the civil war he was going for, but it did end up with a small group of otherwise loyalist marines ended up serving on a traitor vessel under direct orders from their primarch. Rather than go against their superhero boss they just kept compromising their ideals a little at a time until they became full on traitor legionnaires pretending they're still pure.

Edit: Holy poo poo don't trust the literal goddamn Alpha Legion auxilliaries. The only thing that's changed is how many people we need to shoot/imprison/experiment on.

So if I understand it correctly we are standing infront of a potential coup, we give the warrant of trade to Ching Shih, and I assume that also means command of the ship, or face 10 Iron Hands?
If so, what do we have that can take on Space Marines?

Interesting, I never knew that.

If she wants to make a play, she has the legal authority and 10 Great Crusade era Space Marines to do it. And they are the ones who installed your armor.

Don't hand over our warrant and out ship to the AL patsy what.

Also anyone assuming she'd be fine with Athena should remember that she actually lived during the Age of Strife that was in part a result of the Iron Man rebellion, and then served in the Great Crusade where the Big E made the position on AI crystal clear. A free thinker, perhaps, but I'd argue she has some limits.

3. Start having sessions with her where she teaches you to use computers with a mouse and keyboard.

There's a lot of heretical ideas floating around, but this is clearly the foulest.

That being said, this is certainly an interesting long con. Remember that she was described as "one of your little spies" by both Ferrus and Alpharius? Who knows what pycho/genetic/technobabble conditioning has been implanted in her? Who knows what secrets she has hidden beneath her surface? Even assuming the Iron Hand is cut off from radio communications, we've got to assume that his number 1 priority is to get the word out to his brethren. So the secret is going to start spreading. At this point, our choice seems to be to clamp down hard, or go under cover and wait until we have more reinforcements before we make our move. Spreading the word that this is some sort of a chaos-imposter should be pretty trivial, and if we win, it will even be the truth!

Let's try the Devries strategy. Invite her to a big meeting with her 10 new buddies, and then we set off a nuke in the conference room. Maybe two nukes, just to be sure. Since we survived one nuke ourselves.

ElrondHubbard

Don't trust goddamn Alpharius.

Also these Space Marines may have the Staff and may be the actual Darkness.

They serve the Lord Sire, they're unlikely to have tolerated a chaos marine incursion on the ship, makes sense that they're always close by, etc...

Don't hand over the ship. If they press the issue, pull out the =][=. If that doesn't work, cooperate initially, but have the Krieg set up a full scale ambush while you try to get them to let you continue your work on the planet.

We're an =][=nquisitor and these guys fulfilled their duty to the Primarch's orders, so now we can probably order them around using the full authority of our office if they don't like it. If they disobey an order from the Inquisition, that is full stop heresy unless they can cite some order by their Primarch.

The warrant of trade isn't that important since, as an Inquisitor, we can just get another one, but giving control of the ship to a half-elf from the before-times and a bunch of idiots who trust chaos primarchs isn't a good idea and will probably result in sadness. The fact that she doesn't understand the threat of chaos and is an unsanctioned psyker should lend credence to why this is a bad idea. Not to mention parading around the fact that our dynasty was created by a xeno hybrid who likes Alpharius is a bad move and will get our ship shot to pieces. Besides, she seems like her first goal would be to go to the Eldar and pledge allegiance, drat xenophile.

The evidence on the planet might prove Alpharius is a lying jerk (harder than you'd think) and let us convince the Iron Hands that she's part of his evil plot. She's going to turn out to be considerably more competent and dangerous than we surmised and we'll need all the help we can get. The real Ching Shih is somewhere else.

We have the tools, we have the talent!

We should also remember that there were two Alpha Legion Primarchs, Alpharius and Omegon. They were twins. Legend has it that Alpharius went rogue, and was eventually killed by Roboute Guilliman of the Ultramarines, while Omegon stayed loyal and went on to become the first Grandmaster of the Grey Knights.

On Titan.

You know, where we've been summoned to.

Thing about Alpharius and Omegon is that they played the name switching game. That there was two of them was a closely held secret and they both went by "Alpharius" in public. Eventually, their entire legion picked up that trick and they all go by "Alpharius" when they want to be anonymous, but that's neither here nor there.

The important question we need to know the answer to is: Is that Alpharious (bad) or Omegon (good) in the holo?

Don't kill anyone. Don't attack anyone. No hostile actions. Keep a close eye on them and attempt to get any information you can. Cooperate with Ching Shih and the Iron Hands.

I am entirely certain we do not have anywhere near the firepower to take on 10 crusade era Iron Hands. There's obviously some wheels within wheels bullshit here, so it's best to play it straight and see what happens.

Well, how's she supposed to complete her mission, anyway? Ferrus Manus got his head chopped off at the Drop Site Massacre. Alpharious got capped by Guilliman. Omegon might still be alive but probably got eaten by a demon ages ago, and the Emperor is a non-responsive psychic vampire on Terra. Who does she report to? It's way too late now.
