Wasn't Ring Ka King considered like the third best thing that TNA did, behind a briefly credible women's division and the good years / months of the X-division? I remember reading that it was something like NXT, a fed so removed from the main shows that it avoided their worst flaws

TNA had a totally awesome run of about 6+ months that culminated in Austin Aries winning the title. It was like they finally got their poo poo together and I was excited to watch the show live each week. And then.. Ace's & Eight's... ...was a good 6 month run.

Aries winning the title was proof that TNA had no idea what they were doing. v The finish to Lockdown 2012 was because of the story, which was "James Storm let his hatred for Roode get the better of him, and as a result he failed to win the title". He took an extended leave of absence specifically for that reason. This is fine if it leads to "James Storm beats Roode in the main event of the biggest show of the year to get the title". Instead TNA happened. rare Magic card l00k fucked around with this message at 09:34 on Sep 18, 2014 |

This "totally awesome" run included the abysmal Lockdown PPV with one of the worst main event finishes you'll find and some other bad shows. I can almost grant that TNA had a few good months in there but no one can seem to agree which months, how long it was or when it got bad. Thus I revert to the null hypothesis that TNA is always and forever will be bad.

That's not uncommon. Nimoy talks often about the difficulty of getting back into normal thought patterns and reacting with feelings to stimuli after spending a week pretending to be the emotionless, analytical Spock. I can't imagine how bad it is for people who have to keep that character right at the surface 24/7 in case they meet a little kid and want to summon up the character.

In addition to the Monday Night War article, Meltzer had this TNA piece that was long but well worth the read.quote:The web site Grantland.com had an interesting story on TNA by Thomas Golianopoulos, questioning if this is the end of the company and will pro wrestling ever support two major promotions again.

I just have to chuckle at the thought that TNA brought in a guy whose career highlight to date was doing a stupid dance with a hundred women dressed as his mama at WrestleMania, solely because Cena insisted on them letting him do it.
