Two starting goalies. Schneider should be good, Hiller will probably at least be good for 25 wins or so with half decent numbers so whatever.

I feel like my "established" forwards are all solid and justifiable, and then I have a lot of young guys who might be good. Kuznetsov is going to be top 6 in Washington, Burakovsky is slotted to see some top 6 time there initially as well. Forsberg has been on a line with Ribeiro and Neal in Nashville that was really effective in preseason. The Rangers made moves to keep Duclair so I'm optimistic about his playing time. Coyle is playing top 6 in Minnesota so he'll get to play with some combination of Vanek, Parise, Pominville, Granlund, and Koivu which makes for a productive season. Draisatl is the 2C in Edmonton. If a couple of these guys pan out that'd be big for me.

I don't give a poo poo about defense.

Nobody ever feels good at the end of this draft (slashed by kessel). I feel like I did well on defense and on goaltending, but my forwards are all risky as gently caress outside Ovechkin and Backes. This team could be great or terrible I don't know. Hopefully Penner gets signed fast.

Stastny was for a lot of faceoffs and just hope he goes 30/30/60 or whatever and hopefully Granlund is as good as he seems. It's the Sedin and Bad Richards that are going to make or break me.

Sedins will be better than last year, though you do not have the better Sedin. Richards likely good too, second or third line centre on the blackhawks is not bad.

another game at nationwide arena. everybody keeps asking me if they can fuck the cannon. buddy, they don't even let me fuck it

My thoughts:

Forward- Kane is Kane. I like Steen. Henrik Sedin was picked in part for the FO numbers last year. Elias looked good and had FO numbers. I felt like Semin might have been the risk, but forgot that Jordan Staal was hurt to go along with Skinner (who I remembered). Dupuis and Justin Williams have always played well for me. Ryder's a guy I always want to pick, never do, and regret failing to do so. Heatley and Lecavalier were picked based on what they did this year; I figured Vinny was worth a shot in the 14th and I'd imagine Heatley should be able to perform decently well on the Ducks (right?). Umberger was a "Sure, why not?" in like the 20th (after somebody got Mark Letestu, who I had next). Calvert and Morrow had decent stats given what was left and I know a full season of Calvert can produce more than 26 points and a few more PIMs.

e- I'd considered taking a flyer on Alexander Wennberg, but Boomer got to him before I could in the 23rd.

Defense- Keith and Wisniewski speak for themselves. I was stunned Krug fell to where he did. Zidlicky seemed to produce, as did Hjalmarsson. Tyutin and Oduya were late picks but I feel like are decent given what was left.

Goaltender- Varlamov was BPA after the goalie rush began and I was like 20 picks away from going. I hope Howard has a good season. McElhinney will be a decent third goalie and I'll know when and how well he's playing.

Heatley hosed up his groin but ya when he's healthy I honestly believe he has a shot at 20 goals with Getzlaf and Perry. Good PP option, I thought about taking him but you got him first.

Yeah, that was my line of thinking. If he can't produce with Getzlaf and gently caress Corey Perry, then something's big-time amiss.

Whoever got Dubinsky (indefinite), Horton (:shepicide:), Jenner (5 weeks), and Murray (call it day-to-day), they're all on IR.

All of these goalies are horrible. Enroth is the closest thing to a starter and he'll probably be battling Neuvirth for the job. Fasth, Reimer, and Ramo are all backups on bad teams.

Fehr might, but he'll probably get pushed out by Burakovsky or Kuznetsov.

Conacher might as well, I dunno. Depends on his chemistry with Tavares and Okposo I guess.

Sceviour is already off the top line in favor of Nichuskhin. He's on Dallas' fourth line now.

WILL AMOUNT TO NOTHING IN LIFE.

I need fantasy advice! My goalies are Rinne and Elliot, which I think should be good but it wouldn't hurt to grab a third. Looking at the FA, I think my best options are Holtby, Luongo, Khudobin, Gibson, Kuemper, and Stalock. I feel good about the last two, but not sure if it's too much of a risk. Most of the lower-ranked goalies are left as well. Any thoughts? Too soon to tell for Stalock and Kuemper?

I'd take Holtby over Elliot straight up so.

Are Gibson and Andersen both there? Is Jake Allen there?

Really? I'd take Elliot/Allen or Gibson/Andersen over Holtby for sure if he can get both.

I'm assuming that it's 1 for 1 so in that case yes but having elliot/allen would be pretty nice if available.

Holtby over Elliot.

Probably wouldn't touch the other ones.

1. I would say that you have too many goalies. You really only need two, preferably both starters. Maybe a third if you can get two goalies from a team that's platooning (Think Gibson-Andersen in Anaheim). In a standard league you're only going to be able to start two at a time at most, and with minimum start requirements I think it's a wasted roster spot to have goalies you won't use. Holtby is a definite starter so I'd keep him. Anderson is a starter but Lehner will get a lot of time. Andersen could easily lose his job to Gibson. My understanding is Jake Allen is going to start being groomed to be the Blues starter, but he's still gonna split a lot of time with Elliot I'd imagine. I'd drop one or two of them (probably Andersen and Allen) and pick up forwards or defensemen because they'll actually be a benefit to your team every week.

2. All of those guys are pretty much a wash. Second line 40-50ish point guys. Grabovski's two position eligibility is good though, and if he plays center he'll get faceoffs.

3. Josi and Gardiner yes, Demers maybe.

Thanks for the advice!

My reasoning on goalies was to target as many favored games as possible and rack up wins and total saves to cancel out the fact I'd likely lose GAA and SV.

I'll see if I can swing a trade for Gibson or Elliott to go with Andersen or Allen, and keep Holtby to round out the goalie trio.

I would keep Rinne. Drop Elliot for Holtby or Luongo.

Holtby is going to start for the Capitals and probably put up slightly above average numbers. Luongo is if you feel like taking more of a risk. He thrives in environments where he sees a lot of shots, and he'll put up good numbers. I also think Florida is going to be better than people expect and he'll pick up a decent amount of wins. They're still going to miss the playoffs, but I don't think they'll be a cellar team.

Ya I get what you were going for but the problem with goalies is that goaltending stats usually make up a relatively small portion of the score for each week. Two solid goalies can be just as effective in winning you those categories as four, with the bonus of having space for two more forwards to score points and block shots and all those other scoring categories.

Florida is going to be goddawful and Luongo isn't a particularly great goalie anymore. He could easily post a .910 season on a team where nobody scores more than 50 points. That is a recipe for disaster. Even if he posts a .925 the ceiling for that team is probably Elliott's mid-point.

e: My strategy for one league I was in was to give up the goaltending W and SO categories completely and focus on the GAA and SV% ones. It's not head to head but rather season long cats, and there are no min goalie games (though 2 roster spots), so I drafted Mrazek and Gibson, and am hoping one of them gets a shutout in their first game. At which point I will never play another goalie.

Goaltending makes up 3/10 stats in standard and is controlled by 1-3 players. It's really important. Those bench guys in standard aren't going to play enough to make up for giving away goalie stats. Better to go for a platoon from a great team (Anaheim/St. Louis) then trust your goaltending on a guy from a team that could suck.

Basically I think it's way easier to make up the numbers in the offensive categories than it is to find goaltending -- if you're competitive in net you should be a threat to win every week, at least that has been my experience.

If it's a two start minimum league (I think that's what standard does). I would even drop Rinne and go with Elliott/Allen or Andersen/Gibson. Two guaranteed STL or two guaranteed ANA starts a week is a great deal.
