They're trying to act like this has any relation to the NFL's strengthened domestic violence policy, which it does not.

It's troubling that they aren't trying to get her help (whether she claims to want it or not) and instead are focusing on fixing the marriage god bless the bible bullshit.

Some no-name secretary of a low-level pr exec will get fired for this and that will be the end of it unless they have emails from Roger explicitly mentioning the tape.

They claimed nobody at the NFL had seen the video, despite several reputable descriptions of it to media sources, and now this voicemail proving that at very least SOMEONE in the executive level saw it. To believe that an organization as powerful as the NFL wouldn't get access to a casino video tape that any braindead idiot knows exists is ridiculous and that's why this is such an unbelievable/hilarious story.

If Ravens execs knew what really happened why are none of them under the microscope for trying to sweep this away? Allowing all the victim shaming, I Like Ray Rice article, other PR blunders after they knew exactly what happened is bizarre.Lorini posted:The league informed them this morning. Unless the NFLPA wants double jeopardy to become common, I think they have to go to bat for Rice on this. That's just bad. I don't support what Rice did of course, but the union can't give up what little power it has. OK, they let him back in the league but then the owners collude to not hire him anyway. What's the difference?

It is a privilege to be a football player in the National Football League. On the other hand, a Senator's son getting the job of National Football League commissioner is a birthright. Therefore

I know I'm unbiased as a Browns fan, but if you didn't already know the Ravens were a lovely corrupt organization )Ray Lewis, Jamal Lewis, Terrell Suggs, now Ray Rice) then I don't know what to tell you. The problem is I would expect any other NFL team to do pretty much the exact same thing they did in this situation. It's very telling that the only reason Rice got anything other than a probation and slap on the wrist game suspension is because it was caught on tape.

The Puppy Bowl posted:Was it? He phrased some things oddly but he didn't really provide any new information other than to refute the most inflammatory accusations from the ESPN article, like the hush money matter. He ranted and raised his voice, made accusations about those devlish media, nonchalantly let us know he didn't care if he would be forced to sell the team since he's rich and doesn't have to work anyway, and he contradicted himself in regards to knowing about the tape/knowing about the suspension length. To top it all off he waved away his PR manager to answer MORE questions and dig himself in even more. This was like textbook "what not to do" in terms of a media statement.
