watching the animorphs tv show was the first time i was disappointed with an adaptation for specific reasons. it must've been pretty bad, for an 8 year old to spontaneously transform into an adult nerd.

It was weird watching Iceman when I remember him as a animal shapeshifter. This show made me give up on Animorphs. After following it for close to a year, tracking down geocities websites claiming to leak future novels, I just gave up and stopped reading. Apparently the series ended with everyone dying to some new alien that suddenly showed up. Who cares, it was borderline garbage at worst and passable YA fiction at best. Surprisingly, KA Applegate continued to write and won awards years later.

Animorphs was actually really bad. I enjoyed the last thread when we made fun of how bad it is but goons hosed that up by unironically enjoying them and starting a book club and poo poo

I loved Animorphs as a kid! I even entered one of their official fanfiction contests with hideous elementary school storytelling where I got to turn into a leopard with the Animorphs gang. I did not win anything. I was amazingly jealous of one of my friends because he had cable AND that cable came with the Animorphs TV show!? Then I saw half an episode and thought maybe not having cable was okay after all.
