Lowtax posted:Because long forum names, combined with long thread names, combined with sub-sub-forums, caused that element to break others. Ah, sure. That's unfortunate, and it'd be cool if somebody eventually found a way to make it work without breaking anything or having a weird dropdown design. Perhaps just have it remove all the > Subforum > Subforum > Subforum parts so that it only ever lists The Something Awful Forums > The Forum You're In Right Now > The Thread Name? I don't know if that's possible, and hell I sure don't know if the mobile browsing thread is the place to bring it up, but just something to consider I guess.

The purpose of the thread tag is to inform people who have not read it as to what the thread is about, so once a user has engaged in the thread, the tag loses use and can have its space replaced by something of greater contextual value (the last read). yeah, i can see that. they way i personally use them is to quickly find a thread that i havent bookmarked, but i remember it had a certain icon, and its a lot faster and easier to visually parse just scanning up and down looking for an icon than reading the titles.

It's pretty good. I'm getting the empty space on the right side too on my galaxy note 2, in Chrome. I'm also not clear on where to click to go to the first unread post in a thread. If it's the number of unread posts that column is way too narrow, but that might be a consequence of the empty space bug. Otherwise I like it. Also please ban all poo poo posters forever tia.

for what it's worth, when i browse, the thread tags are useful to me as quick identifiers of which threads i follow. like, for example, the gym thread, when i see that sports tag up near the top, i recognize it as a thread i like. i don't know how i make it work considering there are a limited number of thread tags, maybe the tag plus the first word, but i've found it to be a quick way of keeping up with gbs e: starwar betamax beat me to it

Perhaps we need more variant CUM consumption tags in GBS?

If you're talking about 'other options' I have all 4 on yes. Lowtax, so far it's nice. It's been said, but the layout is extremely large, making it kinda a pain to read. Would there be a way to implement a way to set the scale? If I had a note or other large display phone I think it would be better, but on the 5s it's not easy on the eyes.

Cool, everything works now. The only thing that would rule is a dark mode and the report button not being awkwardly higher then the rest of the buttons.

I had completely forgotten it existed since it doesn't show up to mods and admins. this is a more general question related to the normal forum view as well, but is there any reason the report button is so close to the quote button? would it not work better over to the left? also it is pretty big.

Lowtax posted:If you are getting the screen width bug (where the content does not span the window 100%), please let me know what browser you're using and what device and as much info as you can give me. Mine looks like that in Chrome on a Sony Xperia ZL. Edit: it looks fine in landscape mode. In portrait it seems to load fine at first, but then immediately squish to the left when finished loading. Edit 2: I unselected the option to view as mobile on all devices and it's fine now. For some reason though, the reply page is loading zoomed a bit. Not a big deal to shrink it but yeah. lidnsya fucked around with this message at 23:49 on Oct 10, 2014 |

I had a big list of problems with the firefox version typed up and then I remembered to turn off SALR and they went away, ie I'm dumb. I do get the partial width display thing in firefox, but only in usercp. One thing I noticed because I'm actually looking at the ui(true in both the old and new uis) - why is there a logout button when you are typing a reply? I do sometimes log out of the forums but I never realize I need to do so mid-post. I'll keep using this ui for the weekend and see how things go. It seems harder to get to the last page of a thread overall, and I do that a lot more often than I do the first page. I use usercp a lot so a link to that or bookmarks on the top of the forum list would be nice, I use that a bunch in the app. The buddy list knows what I said about it and now it's mocking me: Jeffrey of YOSPOS fucked around with this message at 01:05 on Oct 11, 2014 |

I have browsed the forums mobile version on my phone by "enabling mobile layout on mobile devices". Unfortunately, this applied the mobile browser user interface experience to my laptop as well! I did not like this, so I turned it off. Does SA think my laptop is a phone?

Okay, Google just updated Chrome across all platforms, and the whitespace is mysteriously gone for me. Has anybody else experienced this too?
